Some really great info has been coming out in the last couple days about Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, and the latest shows at look at the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Ride Vehicle now in Disneyland.
We got a preview of the model back at D23 Expo 2017, but now thanks to a leaked photo reportedly taken from a Cast Member magazine, we can see exactly how the ride vehicle for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is going to be.
The photo was shared by @sw_edge on Twitter as cast members were performing a regular “test and adjust” to the ride vehicle. The ride vehicle is practically identical to the model from D23 Expo, just a bit darker:
It has room for 8 passengers and it has a droid in the front who will be your guide through the attraction. The ride vehicle is going to trackless, which means a lot of unexpected twists and turns and potentially a bit of variety every time you ride.
In the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction, guests will be transported up to a First Order Star Destroyer, where they go on a secret mission and get caught up in the middle of a big battle. There are going to be two full-sized AT-AT’s which will even fire on guests in the ride vehicles. We got to see some video footage of this during the Christmas Parade in Walt Disney World when they showed a behind the scenes look at Galaxy’s Edge.
It also looks to be in the actual environment for the Star. Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction, which means that construction there is at a very advanced stage and they should be near the testing phase.
That’s great news as we just found out yesterday from Bob Iger in an interview with Barron’s that Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge will be opening in June 2019 in Disneyland. We knew it was going to be in the Summer, but that’s the first we’ve heard an actual month locked down.
We also got some more great info yesterday about the details of Galaxy’s Edge including the Blue Milk, Animatronic Merchants, and Droids as big as R2-D2 that you can buy and bring home!
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens in June 2019 in Disneyland and in “Late Fall” 2019 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
I want to know what you think about the ride vehicle for the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge…
