X-Wings Land in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

We’ve been following the construction of Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Disney World for a couple of years now and today thanks to the latest aerial photos from Nearmap reposted by BlogMickey, we can see some X-Wings have landed in Star Wars Land in Disneyland!

First let’s look at the land as a whole from high above in these aerial photos. This was the state of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland just about one year ago in March 2018:

The building on the left if the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction, while the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride is the big building in the top middle, and the marketplace in Black Spire Outpost on the center/right-center.

Now look at the difference from February 2019:

Completely different and starting to look like a city!

Here we get a close-up of Black Spire Outpost with a couple of cool components:

First of all you notice the Millennium Falcon sitting outside its attraction. This is going to be a thing of beauty when walking through Galaxy’s Edge and we’re told by Imagineers that it will have a big “reveal moment” like Cinderella Castle does in the Magic Kingdom.

In fact if you look at the bottom left of the next picture, you’ll see there is an elevated platform from where guests will have a great view of the Falcon and be able to take amazing pictures with her, without other guests getting the way:

The Millennium Falcon in Disney World is almost done too as construction crews are speeding along daily. Check out the progress of the Millennium Falcon in our latest in-depth Galaxy’s Edge construction update.

Also in the next picture you can see an aerial photo of the brand new TIE Echelon fighter form the First Order, which is a totally new ship:

Photos of the TIE Echelon were leaked last week where we got an even better view of it!

Let’s not forget about the Resistance though, and just as we told you months ago, full-sized X-Wings are also being put into Galaxy’s Edge, and they now show up on these images:

They are parked right outside the Rise of the Resistance attraction to the left. One black one and a grey one too!

The grey and blue X-Wing will be the first one you see coming in from that side of Galaxy’s Edge and will be an awesome photo spot to get people hyped for what’s coming next!

You can also see a black and orange X-Wing parked in the queue for the Ride of the Resistance attraction which will entertain guests in line!

I think adding these details with real, full-sized ships really does a lot for the ambiance and feel of Galaxy’s Edge. If this is supposed to be a Resistance base or if the First Order has just landed here, then there should definitely be ships around, and it seems Disney has come through! Every new thing I see or hear about Galaxy’s Edge makes me thing Disney really knocked it out of the park on this one!

When is Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opening? May 31 in Disneyland and August 29 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Wondering what we thought of Galaxy’s Edge? You can read our full review here.

Could you please update the refurbishment of the castle at Disneyland (California)? The last time I saw an update from you was in January. It's March and for those of us with upcoming trips it would be nice to know what we are in for. Thank you for your help.
