Many were wondering what’s coming next to Disneyland Park after Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens in Summer 2019, well now we have our answer. The Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction is coming to Toontown in Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California in 2022.
This is the same ride as the one coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (albeit now delayed till 2020) and the first Mickey-themed attraction ever in Disneyland Park! This is going to be a zany ride which puts you into the world of Mickey Mouse with one crazy turn after the other!
With an original story and lovable theme song, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway uses state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to transform the cartoon world into an incredible and immersive multi-dimensional experience.
Earlier today, Disneyland Resort President Josh D’Amaro shared a fun photo of him getting a sneak peek of the plans!
The attraction is also being called: “Marceline West” which calls to the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway code name in WDW: “Marceline.” Supposedly the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction won’t be built where anything of interest currently sits in Toontown (Roger Rabbit is safe), but will mostly be in backstage areas, behind Toontown.
It may take up some of the fireworks launch points for the nightly show which can be moved, and also the real estate that the Gag Factory shop currently sits on. In that case, it will, of course, have to be closed.
I personally like the idea for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Disneyland. It will most likely be an identical clone of the Hollywood Studios version, however, I expect vast differences in the attraction queue due to the uniqueness of the Chinese Theater in Hollywood Studios. Besides that though it should be the same.
I’m really high on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in general and the ride sequences are going to be beyond anything we are expecting. I think it will be a great addition to already the best Disney Park in the U.S. when it hits Disneyland.
There still isn’t an official opening date for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Hollywood Studios but we know it’s going to be Spring 2020. It’s just next in line of a bunch of awesome projects coming to the Disneyland Resort with Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, Marvel Super Hero Land in 2020, then Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway a couple years after that.
