PHOTOS: Star Wars Rise of the Resistance Ride Vehicles on Display

This is a big weekend for Star Wars fans as Star Wars Celebration is underway in Chicago and will be going on for the next few days. One of the big panels is for Galaxy’s Edge, and while we have to wait till Saturday to hear the announcements, today we got a sneak peak at the ride vehicle for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance!

If you’re not familiar, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a ground-breaking new attraction coming to Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

It’s 2 rows of 4 people for a total of 8and it even has a droid in the front driving you through the adventure:

It uses trackless technology like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which means that the vehicle doesn’t have a visible path it will take, making it much more unpredictable.

Rise of the Resistance will NOT be up and running on opening day at either Disneyland or Hollywood Studios, which means we’re going to have to wait even more unfortunately. Ironically Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is also delayed, and both problems come down to the same trackless technology. Until they get it right we’ll be waiting.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens May 31 in Disneyland and August 29 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

We are super excited for Rise of the Resistance even if we have to wait longer for it. Disney is saying it’s the most ambitious attraction ever built, so that sounds like it’s worth the wait to me!

Be sure to check out our latest construction update on Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge for a more detailed look into this incredible new land!
