The 2019 D23 Expo is officially underway and one of the coolest parts is just wandering the show floor and checking out all the pavilions with the new displays of everything new that’s coming.
We spent all Friday morning exploring the different booths and displays that you can visit to bring you a first look at them. We got a look at the Disney Parks pavilion, Marvel’s Avengers Campus coming to Disneyland, Pixar animation, The Disney Archives, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and more.
We can’t show you all of the pavilions because of how big it is, but we tried to get you the ones you might most enjoy. I hope you like them and can feel like you are there with us!
Let’s take a look!
If you haven’t been to the D23 Expo before, it’s BIG. You can and will get lost wandering around and while it’s fun just to mindlessly wander, you really want to have a plan for where to go. Grab a map and see which pavilions you want to see the most.
Our first stop is the Disney Parks Imagining Tomorrow, Today:
Right up front we have a first look at the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Hotel model:
We go more into it in our Star Wars Hotel post, but this is the first interactive hotel experience which will work more like a cruise ship than a hotel.
From all accounts it sounds amazing and we can’t wait to take of on a 2-night, 3-day excursion into space!
Next we can see the Hong Kong Disneyland castle which is being fully re-imagined. The old castle base remains and new spires are being added to the top.
The cool part about the Parks pavilion is that all the Disney Parks worldwide are represented:
For example in Shanghai there is a Zootopia land coming!
The Tokyo Disneyland expansion model is quite impressive and you can see the new Big Hero 6 and Beauty and the Beast expansions:
Here is a look at some of the other projects:
The main attraction here though is the newly designed Epcot:
While new it takes its inspiration from the Epcot Center of old! I love that they are doing this and play of the nostalgia of 80’s Epcot.
That is reflected even in the new logo that looks retro at the same time:
Awesome!
In the back there is a huge model of the Epcot transformation and redo:
All the Epcot pavilions are represented:
Not all of them are visible though, and there are 2 blank ones that are “Revealing Sunday”
Closer look at the model:
Spaceship Earth is still there, but how different will it be?
It was awesome to watch the slide show of the new Epcot. It lasts about 8 minutes and has tons of concept art where you can see all the changes:
Future World is getting totally changed and adding parks and green spaces:
Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster:
and of course the New nighttime shows, Epcot Forever:
and the more permanent replacement:
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride vehicle on display:
and a look at the costumes for cast members:
We found out the name of the TRON coaster will be “TRON Lightcycle Run”
a look at the costumes for cast members:
The concept art is totally different. Find out what we noticed from the TRON coaster here.
more projects from Walt Disney World were on display:
Next one of the things I’m most excited for, the Avengers Campus:
This is being rolled out in Paris, Hong Kong and Disneyland Anaheim:
Here is a model of the California campus:
Disneyland Paris:
The full concept art is quite impressive:
Spider bots are on display from the Spider-Man attraction:
and a Spider suit:
There is a little info on the Sanctum, the Dr. Strange show:
Now let’s head over to Pixar animation:
Frozen 2 is a big part and there is an interactive photo shoot:
You can learn how Pixar actually does animation at the panels:
There is an Onward photo shoot too:
Star Wars has a big presence at the Expo and if you buy for Disney park passes here you’ll get free Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge pins:
Are you a stormtrooper fan?
Well they have them all:
They are all on display from the original films right down to the most recent:
Marvel Studios was of course a big draw for us:
There is a huge poster from all the MCU characters that will be carrying the series from now on into Phase 4 and beyond:
There are some interesting panels here too with presentations from Marvel execs and stars:
and of course many of the MCU costumes are on display:
a Marvel interactive photo shoot where you can where the costumes digitally:
Heading over to Disney+
Costumes from the new series: The Mandalorian are on display:
and the Lady and the Tramp movie:
If you sign up at the Expo you can get a big discount on your first 3 years of the Disney+ service:
It’s a D23 Expo offer or D23 member offer only:
There are displays showing exactly how Disney+ is going to work. Pretty streamlined and slick imo:
Disney Vacation Club makes its presence known:
and shopping which is always a huge part of the experience:
I didn’t have time today, but the lines were LONG!!
There were plenty of cool photo ops:
We checked out the ESPN+ pavilion where Peyton Manning’s new show is on display:
Disney on Broadway is here:
Disney Music fans can get their fix:
The newly acquired National Geographic has a pavilion too with stars there from their shows:
The Disney Archives exhibit is always one of the coolest parts of the Expo and this year it’s Disney’s Heroes & Villains – The Art of the Costume.
On display are dozens of the actual costumes worn in your favorite Disney films:
Various Cinderella films and shows:
Aladdin:
Original Julie Andrews Mary Poppins costumes:
and some from Mary Poppins Returns:
Frozen:
Pirates:
101 Dalmations:
Beauty an the Beast:
We hope you enjoyed this tour of the D23 Expo Show Floor and all the exhibits on display. Of course I wasn’t able to get each and every one because of the sheer size of the expo, but I thought these were the best ones.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Thanks for showing us the event. Couldn't be there but this made me feel like I was a part of it, even though from a distance. Nice covering of the event.
