One of the bits of news that went a little under the radar today was the the Disney Riviera Resort new concept art which was revealed on stage by Bob Chapek.
It’s a cool shot of the Disney Riviera Resort, but a few things jumped out at me. One it’s going to be prime real estate to see the fireworks. You are so close to Epcot that guests are going to get some amazing shots both from their resort hotel rooms facing that side, and also from the restaurant on top of the hotel.
The other thing that jumped out to me was a rather lackluster pool area. From what I understand the Disney Riviera Resort is going to be a pretty high-end resort, and it has to be one of the smallest and least imaginative pools I’ve seen on Walt Disney World property. Also the back of the resort isn’t really doing it for me either and looks a bit uninspired to say the least. It doesn’t really give me any semblance of the “Riviera.”
Look how much cooler the front looks:
Now granted it is going to be small with only about 300 rooms and it will be in a great spot on the Disney Skyliner line and next to Epcot, but I think they could have done better. I’ll save my final judgement till I get up close and see the Riviera Resort myself, but it feels like potential wasted. Hopefully I’m wrong.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

I agree that resort pools are a bit unappreciated and definitely can enhance your stay with a quality and well themed pool experience. In my opinion this would be a great opportunity to add another "lazy river" pool to the Disney resort areas. Disney only has one (if I recall correctly) at the resorts and this new report would be greatly enhanced if they added one here. Definitely would be disappointing to have a DVC resort with a lower quality recreational pool area.
