At the D23 Destination D event Bob Chapek announced a brand new nighttime spectacular coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios called: “Wonderful World of Animation.”
This all-new show is described as a “cinematic nighttime experience” will be part of Hollywood Studios’ 30th Anniversary celebration and will debut May 1 2019.
The “Wonderful World of Animation” show will focus on the Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse himself. It will use state-of-the-art projection technology, taking guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation.
This new show will most likely replace the existing Disney Movie Magic projection show.
I think this is an awesome idea and hope it’s executed properly. I love the idea to focus on Disney animation, and hope it highlights a lot of the old-style Disney animation too. The “Wonderful World of Animation” will make its debut May 1 2019.
