What is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a separately ticketed event held at Disney’s Magic Kingdom that is held on select nights during the Christmas Season.
It’s essentially a giant Christmas extravaganza that features all kinds of Christmas-themed events including fireworks, specialty snacks, parades, and even special stage shows. It’s definitely one of the most popular events of the year and something many guests circle on their calendars each year.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is returning in 2024, but when?
Event Dates
Unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party which lasts 3 whole months, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party only takes place in November and December.
For those wanting to attend, it’s still possible to get tickets since it’ll be on 25 different nights during these two months! So what days exactly?
The 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party event dates are as follows:
- November: 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29
- December: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20
The party takes place each night from 7:00 pm to 12:00 midnight for a total of 5 hours. You even have 3 hours ahead of time to do some of your favorite Magic Kingdom rides before the party starts.
(UPDATE) – Some of the 2024 dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party have already sold out. If you are thinking of going, you should buy your tickets ASAP.
Which Dates Are the Least Crowded?
While there’s no guarantee on which dates will be the most or the least crowded, generally speaking, there are a few dates that are MORE popular.
The Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties that will be the most crowded are:
- The first couple of dates in November and the last couple of dates in December
- The ones right around the holidays, including Thanksgiving time
- The weekend dates
If you avoid these dates you’ll be much more likely to get tickets and possibly deal with lesser crowds, although it’s impossible to say for sure!
Will More Dates be Added?
While it’s possible that they could add additional dates, it’s highly unlikely since there are already 25 different nights for those two months in which they’ll be running the party. They did NOT add additional dates last year, and we don’t expect more this year either.
Ticket Prices
Keep in mind that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a special-ticketed event, meaning that you will need an additional paid ticket to attend. Just having a Magic Kingdom Park Reservation will not grant you entry to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you need a ticket.
The overall ticket prices vary by the date and range between $169 and $219 plus tax for adults. For children between the ages of 3-9, the tickets range from $159 and $209 plus tax.

Discounts
On select nights, guests that are either Disney Vacation Club Members OR Annual Passholders can save $10 off the cost of the tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in 2024. Unfortunately, there are no longer any advanced ticket sale discounts as there previously were in prior years.
Cheapest Days to Go
Since the party is a date-based event with rotating ticket prices, it’s cheaper to go on days further away from Christmas.
The dates in mid-November will cost the lower end of the spectrum at the $169 rate for adults, whereas the adult tickets for dates closer to Christmas in December will run the full $219.
How to Buy Tickets
When you can buy tickets depends on if you are a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guest or if you are staying off-site.
- Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Guests – If you have a Walt Disney World Resort Reservation or are staying at the Walt Disney World Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin hotels, in addition to Shades of Green, you can begin purchasing your Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets starting on July 2nd, 2024.
- Off-site Guests – If you are NOT staying at one of these resorts and are either a local or you’re staying somewhere offsite, you can begin purchasing your tickets on July 10, 2024.
To purchase tickets, you can either call Disney directly at 407-939-4240 OR you can book them online on the dates above at 7:00 am.
Keep in mind, if you’re purchasing when tickets go on sale, be prepared for long queues on the website and likely long waits when calling.
Tickets are limited and may not be available for purchase on the day of the event. Last year, the event sold out six times in advance and that does NOT include the times the event sold out in general, and we expect more of the same in 2024.
They are also non-refundable even if there is bad weather, so be prepared to go either way.
To make things easier, we recommend using an Authorized Disney Travel Planner such as our friends at Show You the World Travel. They can help you with not only your tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but also getting your park tickets, hotel reservations, dining reservations, and anything else you need.
Best of all, they are totally FREE to use, so to get their expertise for the low cost of $0 is a no-brainer in my book. Request a free quote here to find out more.
Park Reservations
Guests that purchase a ticket for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in 2024 will NOT need to purchase an additional day theme park ticket OR a theme park reservation for the date you will be going to the party as long as you come at 4:00 pm or after.
Your entrance ticket to the party will allow you to enter Magic Kingdom at 4:00 pm or anytime after. However, if you plan to spend additional time in Magic Kingdom prior to 4:00 pm, you’ll need both a park ticket AND a park reservation for that day.
Event Entertainment & Details
With most of the entertainment offerings coming back full-flow now, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party includes some of the same experiences you’ve grown to love in addition to some new activities and entertainment offerings.
It’s important to plan your interests and your itinerary based on your family’s desired offerings and interests. For a full list of things to expect when coming to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in 2024, here is what you can expect.

Can You See the Christmas Entertainment Without Going to the Party?
For guests that either could not attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas due to not being able to get a ticket or just not wanting to pay an additional price, there is good news for you! If you visit Magic Kingdom AFTER the final party of the year, you’ll be able to see some of the Christmas entertainment without actually buying a ticket to the party.
You can see things such as:
- Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration
- Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade
- Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show
- A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas
- The Edge Effect
- The Reindeer Wranglers
You’ll also be able to see and enjoy many of the attractions with Holiday Overlays for generally several days or weeks after the final Christmas Party of the year.
Where is the Best Place to See Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade?
There are normally two times for the parade: 8:30 pm and 11:00 pm. Those are this year’s times too.
It’s always best to see the second showing of the parade for lighter crowds and better views. And if you want the greatest backdrop with ideal views, try to secure a spot at the very beginning of Main Street near the town square.
That way you can enjoy the castle as your backdrop and the lights along Main Street as the parade heads toward you.
Where is the Best Place to Watch Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks?
With the projections being a major part of the show, just as with Happily Ever After, it’s important to be as close to the front of the castle as you can.
You’ll get the best views of the show if you can find a location with no obstructed views of the castle. You’ll likely want to be somewhere in the center of Main Street or near the partner statue directly in front of the castle to see all the details of the show.
Are the Dreamlights Returning to Cinderella Castle in 2024?
For those wondering if the popular classic Cinderella Castle Dream Lights will be returning in 2024, the answer is no. This is a shame as it’s one of the highlights of the holiday season.
The lights have previously given the castle a beautiful illusion of being covered in snow and icicles, and they have not returned since 2019, after previously running for 12 years straight.
There is always a chance Disney will announce the Dreamlights coming back later this year or in a future year. Maybe there is a chance they will come back if bookings dwindle and Disney needs another reason to attract guests to the parks, but for now don’t expect them.
Best Days for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
If you’re planning your Disney World on a tight budget and want to get your Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets in advance, normally we recommend you try to attend one of the parties in late November or early December.
That’s when most people find it to be the best balance of crowds, ambiance, and lower-tiered pricing. If you’re worried primarily about crowds, the ones in earlier November parties are the least crowded (outside of the first couple of dates).
A good way to do to find a date with the least amount of crowds is to utilize our Disney World Crowd Calendar here. This will help in deciding what days will likely have lesser crowds and won’t be quite as popular with guests.

Attractions
Visiting during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party causes guests to often prioritize engaging in the unique entertainment offerings that you don’t get to enjoy at other times of year OR to get on rides and attractions with minimal waits.
Most rides are less than 20 minutes, and some of them are even walk-on! We usually recommend finding the perfect balance for you. Get on a few rides and then enjoy some of the seasonal offerings.
Let’s take a look at attractions that will be open during the party in 2024:
Which Rides are Available During the Party?

Are Lightning Lanes Available?
During the holiday party, Lightning Lanes are NOT available. The good news is that you won’t need them. With minimal wait times and most rides being a walk-on, the need for Lightning Lanes is nonexistent.
How to Ride TRON Lightcycle Run During Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Guests wanting to ride TRON Lightcycle Run will be able to join the virtual queue at 6:00 pm, using the My Disney Experience app to get in the queue to enter the attraction.
There will be NO standby line for guests hoping to get on, you’ll need to have joined the Virtual Queue. To find out the best strategies of getting a boarding pass, read our Guide to TRON Lightcycle Run with the Virtual Queue.
Also, to get a better understanding of how the virtual queues work, read my post here.
Attractions with Christmas Overlays
Certain rides such as the Jungle Cruise (Jingle Cruise), Tomorrowland Speedway, Space Mountain, and the Mad Tea Party will have additional holiday overlays giving them some extra impedance for guests wanting to get a full-on holiday experience.
This can be a fun and different way to experience rides you’ve done a million times on other visits to the park.
Arriving at the Magic Kingdom
Ok so you’ve purchased your ticket and you want to get to Magic Kingdom to make the most out of your evening, what should you do upon getting to Magic Kingdom?
In this section, we will touch on the two most important points during the arrival process at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
What Time Should I Arrive?
Since guests coming to Magic Kingdom with tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party can begin arriving and getting into the park at 4:00 pm, we’d recommend getting there as close to 4:00 pm as possible!
You’ll be able to get on some rides and do some things in the park that you won’t want to spend your time doing once the official party starts at 7:00 pm.
With all the extra money you are spending for this experience, you’ll want to maximize your official 5 hours of the party to the best of your ability, and certainly not waste time doing things that you can easily do another time you’re in the park.
How Do the Wristbands Work?
Guests coming to the party will need to wear special wristbands to show that they are ticketed guests and can be there for the party. This distinguishes guests that were in Magic Kingdom prior to the party, allowing Cast Members to know that they are NOT ticketed guests and will need to leave prior to 7:00 pm.
These wristbands can be picked up at several locations upon arrival to the Magic Kingdom and you’ll see signs saying “Wristband Distribution” outside of those locations. The locations where you will find them include:
- As you enter the park in the front
- Inside the Chamber of Commerce on Main Street
- Right next to Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
- Outside of PhilharMagic in Fantasyland
- The Guest Relations Window in Liberty Square
- Near Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland
Snacks and Dining
The snacks and dining options are plentiful during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, as you’ll find unlimited Christmas treats all over Magic Kingdom! Yes, you heard me right…UNLIMITED treats!
Each year the snack offerings change and are exclusive to the year and to the location, but you can expect lots of cookies and hot cocoa.
Pay close attention to see what tasty treats are available in 2024! You’ll know a location offers treats if you spot a big inflatable peppermint stick. Look out for them.
What can you expect based on past years?
Exclusive Snacks Locations
In 2024, here is where the variety of exclusive snack locations are found:
- Adventureland – Tortuga Tavern
- Liberty Square – Columbia Harbour House
- Fantasyland – Pinocchio Village Hause
- Tomorrowland – Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe and The Lunching Pad
These of course are subject to change in 2024, but many of those will be the same. We’ll update this when we have more info.
Are Any of the Snacks Free?
Yes! One of the best perks of paying the costs of the holiday parties is the complimentary snacks that are included. For Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you’ll receive a number of complementary snacks all throughout the parks including cookies, hot cocoa, eggnog, and apple cider!
There are other more “exclusive holiday snacks,” but to get those you will have to pay extra. Honestly, to me, they are not worth the extra cost most of the time, and you are better off just eating the free snacks to help justify the cost of the ticket.
READ: Best Magic Kingdom Snacks (Savory & Sweet)
Open Restaurants
- Main Street Bakery
- Casey’s Corner
- The Friar’s Nook
- Sleepy Hollow
- Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe
- Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
As you see, most of our favorite Magic Kingdom restaurants are open during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, though you probably won’t want to go to any of them as it’s a better use of time and money just to eat the free snacks.
Dessert Parties
There are normally two different dessert parties each year during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. These parties include a guaranteed fireworks viewing area for Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks and different holiday-themed desserts and non-alcoholic beverages.
Tickets for the dessert parties are sold separately and must be purchased ON TOP of the cost of the party itself.
Prices in 2024 are $109 for adults and $59 for children between the ages of 3 and 9.
Food and drinks for these dessert parties are typically identical and the only difference between the different parties is the location and the viewing area for the fireworks. One of them is generally in the Plaza Garden area and the other is at Tomorrowland Terrace.
I prefer being in the Plaza Garden area during dessert parties as the view is better, but this is up to you.
Character Meet & Greets
One of the highlights of the Very Merry Christmas Party for both kids AND adults is the ability to meet rare characters that aren’t typically in the parks during normal operating hours.
Queues for these rare characters can sometimes still get very long, especially at the start of the party when characters first come out, so you will need to have the right strategy to save time.
In my opinion, it’s always best to wait until later in the night to meet your favorite characters, as waits will be minimal. Do some of the attractions you want first or watch the entertainment, then see the characters when the other guests are distracted with other options.
So who can you expect to see at these meet and greets? Here’s who you can expect to see in 2024 and where they are located:
Main Street, U.S.A.
- Mickey Mouse
- Jack Skellington and Sally
- Mary Poppins
Fantasyland
- Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum
- Alice and the White Rabbit
- Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet
- Ariel and Prince Eric
- Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Cinderella and Prince Charming
- Snow White and Prince, Aurora and Prince Phillip
- Belle
- Merida
Storybook Circus
- Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck
- Scrooge McDuck
- Santa Goofy
- Seven Dwarfs
Adventureland
- Aladdin, Abu, Jasmine, and Genie
- Captain Jack Sparrow
- Peter Pan
- Stitch
Frontierland
- Country Bears: Liverlips, Shaker, Wendell, and Big Al
- Tiana and Naveen
Liberty Square
- Santa
Merchandise
In prior years before 2022, there was always special event merch exclusive to the party for that year. Unfortunately in 2022, there was no special event merch and we do not yet know at this time if there will be any exclusive merch offerings for 2024.
I would think Disney will capitalize on the opportunity to sell special merchandise, but stay tuned for more updates on this soon…
Our Thoughts
After coming back in 2022, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a popular right of passage for many guests coming to Walt Disney World during the holiday time of year. It’s highly unlikely it will go away anytime soon, and with many of the fan-favorite options likely returning in 2024, it’s likely it will be even more popular in 2024 than it was in 2022.
And with many nights selling out already in 2024, despite fewer offerings than in years’ past, we do fear that the crowd levels will be ramped up yet again with increased offerings.
With many of the nighttime ticketed events getting more and more popular, the days of walking on attractions and having minimal waits for characters could be gone…although we strongly hope this is not the case!
For guests to justify the increased costs of these add-on experiences, it would be nice for Disney to bring back all the offerings, including all the character meet and greets that they had in 2019 prior to the pandemic.
Also, we highly recommend you try to attend on an evening that will be minimal with crowds. You are spending a ton of money to be here, and on some of the more crowded nights, it can get downright chaotic with wall-to-wall people at almost every turn.
To do so, we recommend visiting on the midweek evenings or earlier in November to get the most possible enjoyment with the least amount of people! Plus you’ll save more money. However, we understand most guests are flying into Florida for a specific trip so their dates aren’t as flexible, but do what you can.
We strongly think the party is going to be back to its peak state and in 2024 it will closely mirror 2019 in terms of popularity and crowd levels. For guests visiting, we hope Disney makes it worth it again!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Is it possible to get tickets when a date has sold out?
