Disney Springs continues to add to it's offerings both for shopping and for food, and…
Last week we shared with you a sneak peak of the newly reimagined World of Disney Store and we got a look at some of the new merchandise that’s available there. Well now after more than a year of design and development, the new World of Disney stores, both in Disney Springs and Downtown Disney in Disneyland are now open!
Much went into the change in the store, the displays both inside and out are new, the design and layout of the store, signage, lighting, you name it and it’s changed. This makes it much easier to find your way around the store because previously it was probably the hardest store to navigate your way through. Not so any more.
The World of Disney stores hold the largest collection of Disney-themed merchandise in the world, and there is a lot of really cool new merchandise exclusive to the World of Disney Stores.
The merchandise is organized in sections with an area dedicated to the new new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Collection with a giant Mickey Mouse Club hat letting you know where it is! Another area will be dedicated to the Disney Princesses with tiaras creating a chandelier and a whole section for the Mickey Ears.
These merchandise sections will be rotated, keeping fresh and seasonal things coming in regularly. Here are the ears!
“We saw World of Disney as an opportunity to reimagine what Disney retail is today,” said Alysia Kelley, vice president of visual merchandising and location strategy for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The new store design highlights the best of what is current and new, while also celebrating classic Disney heritage based in storytelling.”
There is also a cool storytelling element throughout the store with callbacks to the original Disney animators throughout the store. Store displays share the history of Walt Disney Animation Studios and the “Nine Old Men,” the legendary animators who created classic films such as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Peter Pan” and “Fantasia.”
There are some awesome touches that aid in the storytelling like ink jars suddenly swirling with color and animate artwork on the walls. Blank pages filling with pencil sketches as if drawn by an invisible hand. Magical movie posters twinkle with pixie dust before coming to life. Plus the sales counters are inspired by the desks and furniture used by animators of generations past.
The hope is that with these new storytelling elements, plus incredible guest service, the World of Disney stores will be even more a must-stop location on your trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, making a a true Disney experience!
The World of Disney stores are also the first to offer reusable bags for guests to use when shopping, further emphasizing the Walt Disney Company’s desire to reduce the use of plastics in the Disney parks and their commitment towards the conservation of the environment. If you prefer the regular plastic bags they are however available for the time being.
The World of Disney stores are open in Disney Springs and Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort so head on down and let us know how you like the new design.
I want to know what you think about the newly reimagined World of Disney Stores…
