There will likely be some changes to the boarding pass procedure once the WEB SLINGERS ride actually opens in Avengers Campus. We’ll update this post as much as possible so you have the most up-to-date information on how to get a boarding group.

Why is WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure Using the Virtual Queue?
If you have been to the Disney Parks in the last couple of years, you may already be familiar with the Disney Virtual Queue. So far it’s been the only way for guests to ride the popular Rise of the Resistance attraction in both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios. The results have been average at best and it has been a bone of contention among fans for quite some time.
Naturally then, Disney is introducing this to more attractions like WEB SLINGERS.
When working properly, the Virtual Queue allows guests to get a reservation for an attraction, then come back when it’s their turn to ride without having to wait in line.
At this time however, the most likely reason Disney is using the Virtual Queue is because they are expecting this to be an extremely popular attraction and with physical distancing still required at Disneyland, this is a convenient way to keep people from forming long lines. The majority of the queue here is indoors making avoiding crowded spaces a must.
We’ll get into how long we think boarding groups are going to stick around for the Spider-Man attraction a bit later.
How Does the Virtual Queue Work for WEB SLINGERS?
Boarding passes for A Spider-Man Adventure are obtained only through the Disneyland Mobile App. At the beginning of the distribution time, guests log into the app and make their reservations.
Only guests with a valid theme park tickets and park pass reservations to Disney California Adventure on that day will be able to make boarding group reservations. It’s important to link your theme park tickets to your Disneyland Mobile App or you won’t be allowed to get a boarding pass.
- REMEMBER: The Virtual Queue is the ONLY way you can ride WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. At this time there is no stand-by queue to wait in.
What Time Do Boarding Groups Open?
There are two daily boarding pass distribution times for WEB SLINGERS:
- 7:00 am
- 12:00 pm
The fact that there are two boarding pass distribution times means that if you aren’t able to get into the virtual queue at the first distribution, you get another chance later on in the day. We highly recommended trying to get into the virtual queue at the first distribution of the day because space can be limited in the afternoon and you aren’t guaranteed a spot.
7:00 am Distribution Time – Reservations for boarding passes in the morning can be made from anywhere outside the theme park. This means you can get into the virtual queue from your hotel or your home.
12:00 pm Distribution Time – Boarding passes for the second distribution must be made from INSIDE Disney California Adventure or Disneyland Park (with a Park Hopper ticket). That means you can do both parks in one day and still get to ride WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
How to Do It?
Here are the steps you need to enter a boarding group for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure:
- At 7:00 am sharp, open the Disneyland Mobile App and go to: “WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure – Request Access with Virtual Queue”. (This is available at 7:00 am or later, if you try it before it won’t work).
- Click on “Join.” You will then see the boarding status of WEB SLINGERS and if boarding groups are still available.
- If boarding groups are available, tap the “Join Boarding Group” button.
- On the next page, select any names from your party that you want to be in your boarding group and then press “Join.”
- You will then be given a boarding group number and an estimated return time. When your number is called, proceed to the entrance of WEB SLINGERS to ride.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind:
- Make sure to download the Disneyland Mobile App BEFORE the day you are going to Disney California Adventure. Technical issues can happen with electronic devices, so make sure your account works and you are already logged in before heading to the park. This will save you valuable time once you are there.
- Make sure you have your Park Pass booked for Disney California Adventure on the day you are planning to go.
- We also recommend booking multiple days for Disney California Adventure since you might not get a boarding pass on the first day. This assures the best chance of riding.
- As an alternative way to access the WEB SLINGERS virtual queue, tap the “Menu” button inside the Disneyland Mobile App and then tap on the “Virtual Queues” icon. Once there, tap “Join Boarding Group.”
Read our guide to getting a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance for an idea of how the whole system works.
If a Distribution Time Has Filled?
It’s very possible for WEB SLINGERS to sell out of boarding passes at the 7:00 am distribution time. If that happens, try to get in the Virtual Queue during the second distribution at 12:00 pm.
- REMEMBER: You need to be inside the park to get a boarding group during the 12:00 pm distribution.
If there is no more room in the Virtual Queue for either distribution time, a message will show on the “Join Virtual Queue” screen saying that distribution time is complete. This happens first at the 7:00 am a window, then again at 12:00 pm.
Once distribution for the 12:00 pm window is complete, capacity for the attraction that day is finished.
How Do I Know When My Boarding Group is Ready?
There are two ways to check if your boarding group is ready to ride WEB SLINGERS. First, check your status inside the Disneyland Mobile App. You can also look on the information boards located in the park.
In the app, look in “My Queues” and you will se an indicator bar showing you how close you are to riding.
- You have 1 hour to return from when your boarding group gets called.
One change Disney has recently made to the Virtual Queue system is it no longer tells you which boarding groups are currently boarding. It does, however, tell you your “Estimated Return” time. This number counts down the approximate remaining minutes until your group is called.
You can also enable “Push Notifications” for the Disneyland Mobile App which will send you a message automatically to your mobile screen when your boarding group is ready. This has been reliable most of the time, but just to be safe we recommend going in the app from time to time and checking manually.
Once your boarding group is ready there will be a message in the “My Queues” section of the app: “It’s Time, Head to the experience by: (insert time).” Once you see this message it’s time to ride.
When you show up to the entrance of WEB SLINGERS, a Cast Member will check your status and allow you to enter the ride.
How Many Times Can I Ride A Spider-Man Adventure?
At this time guests are limited to one ride per day on WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. This is the same as Rise of the Resistance and it’s due to the huge popularity expected for this ride.
This will eventually change in the future but for now you can only ride once per day.
FAQs
Can I Be in the Virtual Queue for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and Rise of the Resistance at the Same Time?
No, you can’t. Guests cannot be in the Virtual Queue for both Rise of the Resistance and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at the same time. This means if you are going to both parks on the same day you will have to pick which one is more important to ride that day.
Since both distribution times start at 7:00 am, we recommend deciding which one is the priority and try to get a boarding pass for that one first. If that fails, immediately try for a boarding pass for the other attraction.
Does Everyone Have to Be in the Park to Join a Boarding Group?
This depends on which distribution time you are trying for. If you try to get into the Virtual Queue at 7:00 am, you are not required to be in the park and you can make the reservations from anywhere.
If you are trying to get into an afternoon boarding group however, all members of your party must be in one of the two Disneyland theme parks or it won’t work.
Do All Guests Need to Have the Disneyland Mobile App?
No, they don’t. If everyone has the Disneyland Mobile App then it makes things easier but it’s not necessary. Whichever guests do not have their own account, their tickets must be linked to the account of the person making boarding pass reservations.
Should I Use Wi-Fi or My Cell Network When Getting a Boarding Pass?
This is s tough one, but in our experience, the Virtual Queue tends to work better when we use an internet connection from our cellular network and not the Disneyland Wi-Fi. Connections to the Disneyland Wi-Fi network can be hit-or-miss and we wouldn’t want to reply on it for such an important process of getting boarding passes.
When Should I Return to the Queue to Ride?
Typically, when a boarding group is called in the Virtual Queue, you have 1 hour to return to the ride before your boarding pass expires. As long as you show up within that 1 hour time window you will be fine.
For example, if your boarding group is called at 2:00 pm, you can return to ride anywhere from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Depending on when you are called it might be advantageous to wait and on on another ride or go to WEB SLINGERS immediately.
What Time Do Boarding Passes Run Out?
While WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure is not open at this time, it’s safe to say that boarding groups are going to fill up very quickly each day. For example, the Virtual Queue often sells out within 1-2 minutes each day for Rise of the Resistance.
WEB SLINGERS is a different ride which will have a higher ride capacity per hour and hopefully not as many mechanical issues as ROTR. That said, expect it to be an extremely popular ride and likely sell out very early in the day, at least for the first few weeks.
Boarding Groups Strategy & Getting a Low Boarding Group Number
Getting into the Virtual Queue for any ride at a Disney park can be a nerve-wracking experience to say the least. Once you find out if you are riding or not you may either cheer for joy or cry in despair. While nothing is guaranteed, we have a few tips to share with you that will give you the best possible chance of securing a boarding pass and even getting a low number.
These tips could mean the difference between riding A Spider-Man Adventure in the morning and having a wonderful rest of your day, or waiting all the way until the afternoon or evening. Even worse, you might not ride at all.
Have Multiple People Getting Boarding Groups
This is the best tip imo. If you are in a group with a few people, everyone capable of using a smartphone should download the Disneyland Mobile App ahead of time and attempt to get a boarding pass for the group.
The reason is that when the boarding pass distribution begins, you are competing against thousands of other rabid fans all trying to get into the Virtual Queue at the same time. With a limited amount of spots, this is a problem.
The more people trying for a boarding group, the better your odds are at landing one.
The first person to secure boarding passes for the group will get the confirmation, and after that everyone else will get a message saying they are already in a group. Mission accomplished.
Your Timing is Crucial
Getting or not getting a boarding pass happens in a matter of seconds, so every advantage helps. Even when you open the Disneyland App could mean the difference.
We recommend opening the Disneyland Mobile App app 5-10 seconds before the official virtual queue opening time.
This is approximately how long it takes to load the app up to the home screen, depending of course how fast your phone is.
- TIP: Run some tests at home first to see how many seconds it takes.
Even though you won’t actually be able to join a boarding group unless you have a park pass reservation for that day, practicing ahead of time will get you familiar with the app and how the whole process works, which will be invaluable to your success in scoring a low boarding group.
Check the Settings on Your Phone
First, check the time settings on your phone to make sure it is displaying properly. Disney’s clocks are synchronized with the site time.gov so make sure your clock is set correctly.
Second, test the speed of your phone ahead of time. This is important and could make the difference between riding or not. As long as you are higher than 50-60 Mbps you should be in good shape.
When the time comes to make your reservations, close out any other apps on your phone and make sure the Disneyland Mobile App is the only one running. Do don’t want other programs or memory conflicts to slow you down.
What Time Do I Need to Arrive at the Park?
If you get a boarding pass during the first distribution time of the day at 7:00 am, you can arrive to the park any time you want, just as long as you are there in time when your group is called.
If you are trying to get into the Virtual Queue during the second distribution time at 12:00 pm, you need to be in either Disney California Adventure or Disneyland Park before 12:00 pm. If you are not there in time you will likely miss your opportunity.
Can I Leave Disney California Adventure and Go Back?
Yes, you can. As long as you are back at the park in time when your boarding group is called, you can leave the park and come back. Usually you have one hour once your group is called so don’t wander off too far or you’ll risk missing your turn.
How Long Will Disney Use Virtual Queue for A Spider-Man Adventure?
At this point, anything is possible. However, we aren’t sure whether Disney is going to use the Virtual Queue for WEB SLINGERS long-term or not. There are a few things to consider.
First, it’s been necessary to use the Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance because of the combination of it being extremely popular and at the same time very unreliable. Since it is the most complicated ride Disney has ever built, it suffers from constant break downs and mechanical issues.
Imagine if it had a standard queue and you had to wait for 3 hours, only to arrive at the end and they tell you the ride is broken and they don’t know when it’s coming back up. The Virtual Queue solves that problem.
We don’t see that happening with WEB SLINGERS. As long as the ride doesn’t break down for hours each day, this shouldn’t be a determining factor.
One of the big benefits to the Virtual Queue at this time is that it means fewer people assembling together in tight spaces, which is important not to do during this health crisis. However, once things go back to normal, there might not be need of the Virtual Queue anymore.
On the other hand, Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently commented that Disney is planning on using the Virtual Queue system even after things go back to normal and their research has found it to be a valuable tool for both guests and management to better handle crowds.
We have also seen the Virtual Queue system expanded to other attractions like the Indiana Jones Adventure recently, so it looks like Disney is embracing this technology after all.
Ultimately we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but for now, if you want to ride WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure you need to use the Virtual Queue. Get familiar with it as it might be here to stay.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
