If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a real-life Pirates of the Caribbean bar that looks like something straight out of the ride or films, you will soon have your chance to do just that at Walt Disney World.
That’s right, Disney has just announced a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is coming to Adventureland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom and it sounds absolutely incredible!
In this post, we are going to share with you everything we know so far about the new Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge bar including all the details about the opening date, menu, atmosphere, reservations, and hours of operation.
And once it opens, and we have a chance to try it out, we will do a full tour and review of all the food and drinks available. We have a strong feeling it’s going to end up pretty high on our list of the best Bars in Disney World when it’s done.
Disney made the surprise announcement at the latest Destination D23 event in Orlando where they dropped the first details about it and, shiver me timbers, we couldn’t be more excited about it.

What we know so far is that a new Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge is coming to Adventureland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom and it will extend the story of Pirates of the Caribbean.
They dropped the first concept art for the lounge and it gives us a look at what the new lounge may look like. From what we can see, it looks like a typical Pirates tavern from the 1800s. There are kegs of beer on the wall, as well as round tables and barrels to sit on.
We also know that the Barker Bird is coming back in some form at the lounge. For those not familiar with him, Barker Bird used to greet guests at the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and he used to be featured at the end of the ride too.
Needless to say, we are super excited to have him back! Maybe we will get some kind of Barker Bird animatronic in the lounge like DJ-R3X at Oga’s Cantina?
We also see a woman with red hair in the concept art, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see Redd from the ride make an appearance in some way.
Nothing has been finalized at this time and Disney Imagineers are still working out all the details but it’s clear that this will be one of the most immersive dining experiences in Disney World and a must-do for Pirates fans.
Honestly, I don’t know what took Disney this long to come up with an idea like this, it’s going to be a cash cow. If Imagineers are smart it will be a Pirates version of Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge, which to this day is still one of the hardest-to-get advance dining reservations in Disney World.
Where Will the Pirates Lounge Be Located?
We know that the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will be located in Adventureland in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, but we don’t have an exact location at this time.
However, we know it has to be nearby the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, so we can therefore narrow down the location to two places: Tortuga Tavern or the former Pirates League makeover experience space.
Both of them are compelling spots and could work fine. My first thought was Tortuga Tavern because it is a good size and it’s almost always closed anyway (it only opens when Magic Kingdom is at its busiest). Plus it’s right across the walkway from the attraction.
The old Pirates League area is also a strong possibility and located nearby so that would work too.
I don’t think they are going to build a completely new structure for the lounge since there are already two valid spots nearby to put it in, and it will cost a lot less to dress up an existing space than build one from the ground up.
Menu (Food and Drinks)
At this time Disney hasn’t released any info or given any hints about what type of food and drinks will be served here. However, that doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate…
What we do know is that this is a lounge or bar, so you can expect a wide variety of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You can for sure expect a variety of beer, wine, and Pirates-themed cocktails that will no doubt be a blast to try.
And in most Disney lounges, there is also a nice variety of small plates that you can either eat yourself or share with others. Think things like nachos, flatbreads, cheese boards, pretzels, dips, etc. I don’t think there will be a full menu, because no matter which location they choose, there will likely not be a full kitchen nearby.
The nice thing is that getting an alcoholic drink at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is no longer an issue and this will give guests another solid choice in the park.
The only thing is you can’t walk around with alcohol, so don’t think you are going to come in here, grab a drink to go as you head in line for the Pirates attraction. You’ll have to consume any alcohol inside the lounge before leaving.
There is no doubt though that this is going to land high on our list of the Best Places to Get Beer and Alcohol at the Magic Kingdom and we can’t wait to try it!
When is the Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge Opening?
So all of this sounds amazing, but when can we expect the Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge to open at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? The answer to that unfortunately, is, I don’t know at this time.
This project was just announced and kind of out of left field with no previous rumors about its creation. Typically a project like this would take at least 2 years to complete from the start, but that is if they were constructing a new building to house it.
In this case, it’s probably going in the former Pirates League area or Tortuga Tavern, so it shouldn’t take too long to renovate those spaces into a proper pirates lounge.
While I highly doubt it will open this year, it’s highly probably that the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will open sometime in 2024.
As soon as Disney makes an official announcement about the opening we will let you know.
Will Alcohol Be Served at the Pirates Lounge?
Though Disney hasn’t commented on the drinks at this time, the probability of them serving alcohol is 100%. So expect to find some awesome pirate-themed cocktails soon.
Will There Be Food Served at the Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge?
I wouldn’t expect entrees or anything, but the new Pirates lounge will probably serve small plates and snacks that go well with drinks.
Will the Pirates Lounge Be Restricted to Guests 21 and Older?
Absolutely not. Just like Oga’s Cantina, guests under the age of 21 will still be allowed to visit the Pirates Lounge.
Will Reservations Be Required?
Disney hasn’t yet commented on the reservation system, but we can be almost 100% sure that reservations will be required. This has the potential to be one of the most popular bars/lounges in Walt Disney World, right up there with Trader Sam’s and Oga’s Cantina.
If that is the case, this will be one of the hardest places to get into and you will likely need reservations to do that. They may take walk-ups too, but we’ll have to wait and see.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
