The very narrow path behind Cinderella Castle in Disney’s Magic Kingdom which connects Liberty Square and Fantasyland is getting widened to improve guest flow.
This popular path is often a traffic bottleneck and it’s almost impossible to go by when guests are coming from both directions. It’s even harder when there are strollers on it.
You can see from the image by the red line where the path currently leads from Fantasyland to The Hub or Liberty Square:
A wider path will be a welcome addition to Disney’s Magic Kingdom as preparations are in place for the parks 50th Anniversary when guest traffic will be at an all-time high.
Here’s a closer-up look at the path. You can see how narrow it is:
The only downside of widening the path is that the moat next to it and to the left of Cinderella Castle will have to be drained and other nearby landscaping will all get a refurbishment. That means this side could get a bit ugly during the construction and crowds will be even slower until it’s done.
Overall this is a real positive move though and will help make that area of the Magic Kingdom feel much less crowded when finished. No word yet of when the work will be starting or when it’s expected to finish.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
