One of the worst kept Disney secrets was let out of the bag today, but it has a new name: the Disney Skyliner and Minnie Vans are officially coming to Walt Disney World. Thank goodness they finally said something as it would have been real awkward seeing the towers and wire from the Skyliner start to go up without an announcement from Disney!
Both of these are brand new transportation systems and will add even more magic to your future vacation experiences, and I’m really excited to try both of them out! Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts said the Disney Skyliner will soon give guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort.
The Skyliner transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And in typical “Disney” fashion, many of the gondolas on the Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters. From the picture we can see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and the Grim Grinning Ghosts. I’m sure they’ll add more too:
Another new transportation service which was confirmed during the Parks and Resorts presentation features vehicles themed to the one-and-only Minnie Mouse and are aptly called: Minnie Vans. The Minnie vans will take you everywhere you want to go at the Walt Disney World Resort, and you’ll ride in Minnie’s classic style.
“Since we’re all about exceeding guest expectations and making every aspect of your vacation uniquely Disney, we’re creating a new point-to-point transportation service in a way that only Disney can do,” Bob said.
They didn’t mention how they would work exactly but expect an Uber-like service which will bring you where you want to go on property. This also leaves a question whether or not regular taxis and Uber will still be allowed on-site or if guests will only be able to use the Minnie Vans for a traditional “Taxi service.”
I’m super excited about the Disney Skyliner and I think it’s quickly going to turn into a beloved attraction itself much like the Monorail. Keep checking for more updates on both the Disney Skyliner and Minnie Vans.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
