Well, we were just talking about this the other day and now it’s here! The Splash Mountain Ziploc bag distribution has begun today in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and they’re really cool!

Starting this morning guests were given specially designed Splash Mountain Ziploc Bags wishing everyone a very “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Day.” These bags have been designed for guests to be able to put their cell phones or other small items inside and not get wet while riding Splash Mountain, a pretty good idea! Disney has made a special distribution area for the Ziploc bags immediately upon entering the inside area of the Splash Mountain queue.
Supplies of the Ziploc bags though were low and already by the afternoon they were all out. It’s unclear how many Disney has ordered and when they’ll be back in stock.
It does come at a strange time considering Disney’s pledge to become more green, especially eliminating the plastic straws and lids from drinks in Disney parks around the world. However Disney has made recycling stations right at the exit of the attraction so they can easily be thrown there. Lots of people were throwing them out, but they actually make a pretty cool souvenir imo, I’m sure you’ll be finding them on eBay soon enough!
Overall I like the idea, I like the fact that you don’t have to worry about your electronics getting wet. Also the way Disney has the whole thing set up works very well from a logistics standpoint. Something like this would be super useful on Kali River Rapids too! Now just need to work on those inventories.
