If you are a parades fan then you are in for some good news as Disney has just announced an all-new daytime parade coming to Disneyland called: “Magic Happens.”
“Magic Happens” will go right down Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland park and celebrates awe-inspiring moments of magic that are right at the center of many Disney stories.
The parade will feature amazingly gorgeous floats from Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty and of course our favorite Mouse and his pals, as well as stunning costumes for all the characters.
Also it wouldn’t be a very good parade without music, and “Magic Happens” will feature a brand new, high energy original song from singer-songwriter Todrick Hall. The song is pretty fun and we got to hear it performed live on stage during the D23 Expo. It definitely feels more modern and fresh, which isn’t a bad thing.
Let’s take a look at this new parade up close:
First up we have the Moana float which mimics her on her boat as a raging wave comes up from behind. It’s inspired by beautiful koa wood carvings inset with LED panels, providing a dazzling glimpse into the magic the ocean holds.
Next is the Coco float and you can see Miguel front and center, along with Miguel’s dog Dante and spirit animals behind him and what looks like Mama Imelda and Hector playing music behind them.
Lastly is the grand finale of “Magic Happens” which celebrates magical moments from classic Disney stories, including the trio of fairies from “Sleeping Beauty” who transform Princess Aurora’s gown from pink to blue and back again!
Being able to recreate these favorite moments from these classics is what makes “Magic Happens” special and reminds us all to keep wishing upon a star.
I think it’s time for a new daytime parade in Disneyland and I’m really excited to see this coming to the park. I don’t know if there will be more floats, but since we have concept art for 3 of them and know Mickey and friends will be taking up at least 1 float, there should be more room to add other characters into the mix too.
“Magic Happens” will make its debut in Disneyland Park in Spring 2020. We’ll continue to bring you the latest news on “Magic Happens” as soon as we have more details about the show.
This was only one of the exciting announcements made today at the D23 Expo. To hear what else was announced, please visit our D23 Expo News and Announcements page for all the other new things coming to the Disney Parks!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
