Back at the D23 Expo, Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced the “re-Imagination”…
As we learned back at the 2017 D23 Expo, Disney is doing a “re-imagination” to the Hotel New York into The Art of Marvel in Disneyland Paris. This hotel completely themed to Marvel is a great idea because Hotel New York was severely in need of a theming change, having never been designed right in the first place. However at D23 Expo they didn’t mention when all this would be happening. A quick look on the Disneyland Paris Website will show that we now know the timeframe:
“We’re always adding a little more shine and magic to our hotels for your future enjoyment. From October 2018, we’ll be busy at work, totally re-imagining the Disney’s Hotel New York into an inspiring world of Marvel Super Heroes. Opening planned within 2020.”
Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek had this to say at the D23 Expo: “We’re going to create a hotel at Disneyland Paris that would make Tony Stark proud. I’m thrilled to announce that Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will transport our guests to the action-packed, inspiring world of Super Heroes including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider Man among others!”
So expect the Hotel to New York to close down in October 2018 for about 2 years. This shouldn’t affect visitors too much as there are many other hotels in or near Disneyland Paris, and will make The Art of Marvel a must-stay once the construction is done!
Of course this is all part of Disney’s long-term plan for the Disneyland Paris Resort as the company has recently taken over full control of the resort from Kingdom Holding Company. Disney has committed to a €2.1 billion investment in Disneyland Paris over the next 10 years to update the parks, including brining new attractions there, with Marvel-based attractions among the most rumored. So naturally a The Art of Marvel Hotel is a perfect fit for this expansion.
I want to know what you think about the Hotel New York closing for The Art of Marvel in Disneyland Paris. Do you like the Marvel theming? What other changes do you want to see come to the Disneyland Paris Resort? Let us know in the comments section below!
