From time to time the Walt Disney World transportation systems need maintenance and Disney has just announced that the Disney Skyliner will be briefly closing in January 2023 for a small refurbishment.
Thankfully, guests won’t have to do without it for very long. The Disney Skyliner will be closed from January 22 through January 29, 2022. This will only affect all three Skyliner routes leaving the main station at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort including to Art of Animation/Pop Century, Hollywood Studios, and Riviera Resort/EPCOT.
The newest transportation system in Disney World has had a couple of notable accidents since opening in 2019 though it is not the reason for a refurbishment. You can read our post about the Disney Skyliner accidents for more details on exactly what happened on those occasions.
Disney has also not yet mentioned what exactly they are doing to the Skyliner, but in all likelihood it’s just for regular maintenance. Disney did a similar refurbishment on the Skyliner in 2022.
The Disney Skyliner connects guests in 4 resort hotels to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Disney Skyliner hotels include Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Guest staying in these resorts can use bus transportation or the Friendship Boats to get to their destination.
Stay tuned as we will have more on the Skyliner refurbishment soon. In the meantime, check out our Complete Guide to the Disney Skyliner where we explain more about this incredible way to get around Disney World.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
