Just as a warning to anyone who was planning to go here today, Blizzard Beach is closed today, May 15th, due to bad weather forecasted. There are supposed to be thunderstorms in the Walt Disney World area from 2pm – 7pm so Disney just decided to keep Blizzard Beach closed all day.
However if you are looking for some fun in the water parks today, Typhoon Lagoon will be open, as of now with normal operating hours from 10am-5pm.
Everything should be back up and running normally tomorrow, we’ll let you know if something changes otherwise.

If I was planning to go, I would be very disappointed. If storms aren’t expected until 2pm there is no reason to close all day. We are heading there next week - how to I check to see if both water parks are open during rainy days?

You can check on waltdisneyworld.com or just ask the front desk at whatever resort you are staying at, they'll tell you. You can also check the My Disney Experience app. In any case they don't close for rain but only if there is lightning and thunder too.
