The Wonderful World of Disney brand is returning to TV with a special musical Live/Animation hybrid presentation of The Little Mermaid Live! The show will be a 2 hour special event and will be broadcast on ABC, October 3, 2017.
The special show will feature Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s songs from The Little Mermaid which will be performed by unnamed celebrity artists. The duo won 2 Oscars for “Under The Sea,” and were nominated for “Kiss the Girl”.
The show will be produced by Done + Dusted, with Hamish Hamilton, Ian Stewart, David Jammy, Katy Mullan and Richard Kraft of Kraft-Engel Productions executive producing.
Little else is known so far, but it should be quite interesting to see how they meld together the Live Action and Animation parts together in the same show. We’ll have to tune in to see!
