Disney just released a new sneak peak trailer for the Live-Action version of Aladdin which is coming to theaters later this year, and in it we get our first look at Will Smith all decked-out as the Blue Genie!
A little while ago we saw Will Smith as Genie in a big Entertainment Weekly spread with behind-the-scenes photos, but in the pictures Smith wasn’t blue. Initially fans were outraged, but then Smith tweeted out that he would indeed be blue in other parts of the film, and now we finally get to see that.
There were some other cool moments in the trailer too. This one of a royal parade coming down the streets of Agrabah:
We get a look at Marwan Kenzari as Jafar as he’s leading Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders in search of the lamp:
and then the moment when Genie is coming out of the lamp:
Looks like there are going to be some dangerous moments for Aladdin here:
Here’s the latest Aladdin sneak peak and Will Smith at the Blue Genie:
So while we don’t know how much time Will Smith will be blue for the movie, it looks like some moments will have him in the blue makeup and others he will be blending in as a normal looking guy.
In case you missed it, here is the original Aladdin trailer released a few months back:
Aladdin features: Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine. It’s directed by Guy Ritchie and will also have two new songs written by Alan Menken as well as songwriters, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul helping him. Look for Aladdin in theaters May 24th, 2019.
