The Walt Disney World Resort announced today that they will be closing 3 Children’s Activity Centers on property by August 1st, 2018. These centers are located in the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and provide a sort of baby sitting service for parents who want to leave their kids to engage in activities in a supervised setting.
I have fond memories of my parents dropping me off at the Children’s Activity Center in the Yacht and Beach Club when I was young, I would play video games and other activities there for hours upon end. However over the past 20+ years obviously the care centers have grown less and less popular with guests. July 31st, 2018 will be the last day of operation for these Children’s Activity Centers and any reservations will be honored up till that time. They also said that Kid’s Nite Out will remain available for Guests who need a child or babysitter service.
Disney said that they are exploring other options for younger guests so we’re eagerly anticipating seeing what they come up with.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Miss these options sooooo much. We just need one night to "adult" when paying for delux vacations. The poly child care center was a highlight for my then 6 year old. Last year we did Pixar and she was among pleased at 7. I really hope Disney continues to offer something good. 3 hours fir a pirate cruise out of Beach Resort doesn't allow my husband and I an evening at Epcot.....

Thanks for the comment Amanda! Yes I agree. I really liked the kid's centers, and I had a blast there when I was young too!
