(UPDATE) – Victoria & Albert’s Reopening July 28

Victoria & Albert's Reopening Menu

The famous Victoria & Albert’s restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is finally reopening on July 28, 2022, with reservations starting June 20, 2022.

Even though Victoria & Albert’s has won the AAA Five Diamond Award every year since 2000, that doesn’t mean they’ve been resting on their laurels during the closure over the last couple of years. The menu has been enhanced and the space refreshed.

The newly reimagined dining room brings guests into “a Victorian-styled setting with murals and wall coverings that showcase a timeless elegance and subtle inspirations of a whimsical garden.”

Guests can still dine in the Main Dining Room, the private Queen Victoria’s Room, or the coveted Chef’s Table with a front-row seat to some of the best culinary masterminds in the world.

Victoria & Albert's Culinary Team

The menu at Victoria & Albert’s is always evolving and coming of the dishes you can expect to try on the Chef’s Tasting Menu include Colorado Lamb with pickled blueberry and violet mustard and line-caught turbot with fennel fondue and Pernod beurre blanc. Those who enjoy the finest of beef can experience the Wagyu A-5 Miyazaki with sauce romesco and potato rösti. Chocolate lovers will revel in the Spectrum of Chocolate, an ombré featuring specialty sourced chocolates with accents of buttermilk, Grand Marnier, and vanilla.

The world-class wine collection found within its wine cellar, with over 500 selections, perfectly pairs with your dishes by the sommeliers on staff. If you’re interested in zero-proof cocktails, there are delicious beverage pairing options for you as well.

Victoria & Albert’s talented culinary team is headed up by Chef de Cuisine Matthew Sowers. He has been working at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts since 2006, with over 15 years of culinary experience at Victoria & Albert’s, in addition to curating menus for Remy on the Disney Dream and Fantasy.

Also, Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer was part of the opening team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and currently leads the pastry team of the resort, including its three signature restaurants, Disney’s Fairytale Weddings, and even the production of the gingerbread house.

The talented chefs are led by Executive Chef Kevin Chong, who oversees all culinary operations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. We can’t talk about Victoria and Albert’s without mentioning the legacy of Culinary Director, Chef Scott Hunnel. The James Beard award nominee provides direction and mentorship to chefs across multiple resorts, including the team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Sommelier Israel Perez serves as the maître d’hotel where he and his award-winning team pay special attention to every detail of the dining experience. For over 20 years, he has created memorable experiences for guests at various signature restaurants across the Walt Disney World Resort.

All of these changes at Victoria & Albert’s are part of a multi-year transformation of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa which is currently going on as we speak. Disney is trying to update the resort while keeping its iconic Victorian charm and elegance.

The renovation started with the addition of the Enchanted Rose lounge as a Beauty and the Beast theme, and the reimagining of Citrios to a subtle Mary Poppins theme. The expansion of the Grand Floridian Villas will be complete in Summer 2022 and will add additional DVC rooms to the property. Disney is also working on a remodel of the Main Lobby of the Grand Floridian but they have yet to reveal exactly what it will look like when complete.

I attempted to get a reservation for the Chef’s Table on my own for almost 15 years. I finally got one with the assistance of a Disney Travel Agent. Then COVID came along and WDW closed and there went my reservation. I had given up hope when I saw a magnetic sign on the side of a car in the local grocery store parking lot for another Disney Travel Agent. I worked with her for almost two years waiting for Victoria and Alberts to reopen and to secure a reservation. After all that anticipation I was concerned that perhaps I would be disappointed. Was I ever wrong! Everything about the experience was beyond my expectations. Everyone was so incredibly friendly. I was a cook in the Coast Guard long ago so the idea of watching the chefs and being able to converse with them was fascinating. Every dish was a work of art. It was the most expensive meal I have ever had and while the food was worth the cost, the overall experience was priceless! I cannot say enough nice things about how wonderful everyone was at Victoria and Alberts. If you are looking for the most amazing dining experience of your life, this is the place to go.

About 25 years ago we went to V&A, chefs table. Yes, it was an amazing experience. But the same thing now, for a couple, at about $900 plus tax and tip, is beyond insane.

While usually on a budget when traveling to WDW it looks like this a place for a truly special occasion. Sounds great for our 50 wedding anniversary which is not far off. :)
