UP! A Great Bird Adventure Closing for Refurbishment in September

After a disappointing debut last year the UP! A Great Bird Adventure show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is being closed for a short refurbishment in September to rework the show.

UP! A Great Bird Adventure refurbishment

Before UP! A Great Bird Adventure the show was called Flights of Wonder and opened with the park in April 1998. It was a show that introduced and educated guests on some of the marvelous birds housed in the Animal Kingdom.

Then in an effort to include more IP in the parks, Disney reopened the show as UP! A Great Bird Adventure in April 2018, introducing characters from Pixar’s UP! film. That reworking has never really resonated that well with guests and Disney has now obviously seen the need to change the show once again.

UP! A Great Bird Adventure is closing from September 8 – September 14, 2019. No word yet on exactly what changes are going to be introduced to the show, and there can’t be that many if it’s going down for less than one week. It’s not a bad show imo, but it just is missing that something special and here’s hoping Disney can find it during the closure.

We’ll keep you updated on any new details about the changes to UP! A Great Bird Adventure as soon as we know more…

I'm glad it won't be closed long. I'll be happy if it just goes back to the original.
