Today during one the panels at Star Wars Celebration we got a first look at the lightsabers coming to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge later this year!
They had the lightsabers in Galaxy’s Edge on the stage and were playing with them:
Here is a look at them inside the carrier box:
Assembling the Lightsabers…
They even light up and look pretty realistic:
Overall I think the Lightsabers look pretty awesome and actually a lot sturdier and more well built than I was originally thinking they might be. Many of the lightsabers will be custom-built and you’ll be able to design them yourself in Savi’s Workshop!
These babies don’t come cheap however as prices for the lightsabers are reportedly $109 for the hilt and $49 for the blade, bringing them to a total of $159 each.
I can’t wait to get my hands on one and try it!
The Lightsabers aren’t the only sweet items you can pick up while in Galaxy’s Edge, in fact we have a whole Star Wars Land Shopping Guide which will help you know what to get in all the shops.
For planning a trip to Star Wars Land we suggest you read our Complete Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge which shows all the useful information from the attractions, dining, planning and touring strategies.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is opening in Disneyland May 31, 2019 and in Disney’s Hollywood Studios August 29, 2019.
You can check out the latest construction progress of Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World in our latest update.
Your Thoughts:
I want to know what you think about the Galaxy’s Edge Lightsabers…
- Are you going to buy one?
- How much would you pay for one?

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Are the Legacy Light Sabres collectable only or do they light up and what krystals do they take and where would you get them?

More like $200 total and I wasn't given the option to purchase the blade separate from the hilt.

Hi SpyGuy thanks for the comment. You are right that the blade is part of the $200 price. I was saying that you can still purchase blades separate if you want to besides the one that comes with your saber.

First thing that came to mind is that Disney wants to have an iconic take home item for guests similar to the wands at Universal from Harry Potter. Very cool item that most everyone (adults and kids alike) will want. Price tag is a bit high, so I hope from a technology standpoint that the cost is offset by the ability to use these lightsabers elsewhere in the park (think Sorcerers cards for the Magic Kingdom or Agent P game at Epcot) and makes the price worth it.

thanks for commenting Morgan. Yes they lightsabers will be very much like the wands and I too hope they make them interactive throughout GE, would make them much more interesting!
