RUMOR: Talking Mickey Mouse in Magic Kingdom Going Away Soon

Nothing is official yet, but the latest rumor is that the Talking Mickey Mouse in the Town Square Theater in Disney’s Magic Kingdom could be going away as soon as May 2018.  Of course Mickey has never talked in the various Character Meet and Greets throughout the Disney parks, however Disney introduced the Talking Mickey Mouse only a few months back with mixed reviews by the guests.

Apparently the main problem with him is that having a Talking Mickey Mouse in one location but silent ones in the other locations has caused confusion for some guests, especially children.  It could also be to save costs, but that seems less likely imo.  The most likely reason are the various technical difficulties some cast members have mentioned.  If that’s the case then there’s a chance we could see Talking Mickey return in the future.

Mickey Mouse will continue to be available throughout the Disney Parks at various Meet and Greets in the regular silent version once the talking one goes away.  Of course this is just a rumor for now, so it should be taken as such until we get the final word from Disney.
