This is a Toy Story Land Construction Update for December 2017. Progress is being made on Toy Story Land so fast it’s hard to keep up, nearly every day some kind of notable progress is made. Since you might not get a chance to get down to Hollywood Studios anytime, we put together this update to let you see for yourself what’s happening!
Lots of progress has been made since our November construction update, and more and more details on attractions like Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers have been put in, as well as noticeable progress on the land’s only restaurant: Woody’s Lunch Box. Because of @biorecontruct on Twitter, we were able to take a bird’s eye view of Toy Story Land and see what construction progress is happening.
Here’s the current state of Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios:
Here in the center you can see the Toy Story Midway Mania building which currently has scaffolding in place as they are working on the new ride queue:
Here’s another view of the queue inside Toy Story Land. The current ride queue is going away, and the queue is being switched to the complete opposite side of the building. Where the current queue is in Pixar Place, that area will be turned into a backstage area:
Notice the scaffolding covering the future ride queue, which will extend out into the land:
Scaffolding is being placed on the side of the Toy Story Midway Mania building also where theming will eventually be:
We’re looking forward to trying Woody’s Lunchbox in the middle of the photo, and the Alien Swirling Saucers attraction is on the bottom middle. Significant progress has been made on Toy Story Land’s only restaurant in the last couple months. Eventually the quick service location will look like the below concept art:
Now ever to our favorite part of Toy Story Land, the Slinky Dog Dash Coaster. You can see the scaffolding going up around the rings on the Start/Finish line, adding more details to the attraction:
Last month we saw Rex and Jessie figures being added to Slinky Dog Dash, and now you can see they are firmly in place in the center of one of the curves:
On the other side of the street from Hollywood Studios you can see one of the launching points for the fireworks:
We only have about 5 months left till the opening of Toy Story Land, so things will be moving even faster and faster in the coming months. Summer 2018 is the opening date, but we’re expecting something around Memorial Day as long as there are no setbacks in the construction.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

Any clue about what the height requirement will be? I'm surely hoping it's 40 inches like most other similar rides! My smallest will be devastated if he can't do it on our next trip!

Don't know yet, however Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in MK is 38 inches, so about 40 for this seems reasonable...
