We finally got some new Walt Disney World 350 room hotel details as well as…
Some new permits were filed with Orange County this week for the River Country area project we reported on back in March. Disney hasn’t said anything about the mysterious project yet, but whatever it is, it’s coming. These latest permits show a water basin going in just north of Vista Way, near the Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza. At first you might not think that it’s connected to the River Country area project, however they both share the same project name: Project 89.
Here’s a look at the pictures in the permits, showing the area designated for the project:
It will be a place where fill goes while they are building whatever they are building up near the old River Country. Similar to the one build at Hollywood Studios for the Parking Lot and Star Wars Hotel constructions. Here is a shot of the plans showing the basin layout:
Here’s a shot on the map of where the previous permits filed for the River Country area project is going:
The permits state on the original: “geotechnical investigation to assess the suitability of subsurface soils.” When Disney files permits and starts digging around sites, that means they are looking to see if the land there is stable enough to support a construction project of some kind, and something pretty big.
We don’t know what’s going there but the best bet is on a New Hotel coming to the area. On the water near River Country is an ideal location with great access to the Magic Kingdom. If so it would be one of the many new hotels being built on Walt Disney World property. So far we know about:
- Star Wars Hotel
- New Hotel Near Swan and Dolphin
- Coronado Springs Tower
- Riviera Resort
- Epcot Future World Hotel
- plus a potential expansion to the Bay Lake complex
This should help ease Disney’s room problem, as there is a dire need for hotel rooms right now, and if they move fast, Disney should also be well positioned for the upcoming 50th Anniversary celebration in 2021 with some of these open.
I want to know what you think about the new permits filed for a River Country area project
- What do you want the project to be?
- And why?
