We were super excited at D23 Expo this year to hear about the worst-kept-secret in the Disney company: The Disney Skyliner. Now as part of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas, we’ve got a look at some New Disney Skyliner Concept Art, specifically showing the Disney Skyliner Stations.
We now know that only “Select” Disney Skyliner cabins will have iconic Disney characters on their exterior design, making it seem like a Disney pal is riding along with the guests. Such characters include the ‘Fab Five,’ as well as figures from Disney attractions, fan favorites from movies, and more.
Here you can see the Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot, which will be inspired by the park’s nearby European Pavilions. It will have metal and glass canopies, hand-painted murals and ornamental steel structures that recall the early 18th century Art Nouveau style. Of course the arrival will be amazing as guest traveling to Epcot via the Disney Skyliner will have an awesome view of Epcot, including the new Ratatouille attraction and France Pavilion additions currently being worked on.
Over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station there will be plenty of activity as it will be the hub of activity for Disney Skyliner. As you can see from the concept art, the Disney Skyliner station here is inspired by the open air village marketplaces of the Caribbean and will feature the same architectural detailing and color schemes. This station will act as a hub, enabling passengers to transfer gondola routes to reach their destination, or exit the Skyline and enjoy the waterfront resort setting. The Caribbean Beach Resort is currently undergoing a huge renovation and it will be a great place to stop and explore once finished!
Lastly we get a look at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios station, which will fit right in with the park’s main entrance and bus stations. Expect a great view of Hollywood Studios as you arrive, and you’ll be able to see the park’s iconic attractions such as the Tower of Terror and the new Toy Story Land and Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. One of the cooler things you’ll notice is on the top right of the concept art you’ll see there is a gondola car with a Captain America design…that means MARVEL is going to be included! I would bet Star Wars as well!
Both the Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will share a Disney Skyliner station that again goes inline with those resort’s thematic settings. Once you exit the Disney Skyliner here, you can go to Hourglass Lake and enjoy a panoramic view of these two colorful resorts.
Finally, cabins will slow down at the Disney Skyliner turn-station along Buena Vista Drive, where guests can see the mechanical and aerial components that make up the Disney Skyliner.
I love the looks of the Disney Skyliner Stations, and don’t think they will be an eyesore based on the concept arts. I was really hoping to hear some more detailed info about the gondola cars themselves and the designs, and I’m pretty disappointed to see that the characters won’t be on every car but only on “select” ones. I was really pleased however to see there will be most likely Marvel Characters on them, and want to see who else makes it. Please get me in the Darth Vader car!!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
