Fan favorite (that’s a joke guys) Mission: SPACE will close for refurbishment starting June 5 to late July. Attraction refurbs happen all the time for regular maintenance or for minor additions, although it’s not yet clear the reason behind the Mission Space Refurbishment. Some have suggested that it’s getting a bit of a technology update to it and others that the whole attraction is on the chopping block and Disney is looking to dump it due to low popularity because of the extreme nature of the ride.
Of course it’s not closing down right now if it’s just going to be down for a couple of months, and it would seem strange for them to invest more money into a technology update if they plan on dumping it in the near future as part of the next Epcot Expansion. In any event the Summer isn’t the best period to close any attraction due to high park capacity during those months. It all remains to be seen at this point and I’ll keep you updated.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
