Recently Disney has been focusing on improving the technology available in the Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms and is now testing Google Home Smart Speakers in the room of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
If you aren’t familiar with Google Home or other Smart Speakers like Amazon Alexa they allow you to play music or ask questions and get intelligent answers. In the case of Walt Disney World guests that means finding out information about bus arrival times, park hours, weather, etc.
These smart speakers are currently being tested in select rooms at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club but if successful will be rolled out to other Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
I think this is a good enhancement to the rooms and could offer some real value for guests if implemented correctly. It offers the next step in Disney’s huge technology push like being able to open hotel room doors with your phone and even the much maligned testing of automatic PhotoPass cameras replacing human photographers.
Your Thoughts:
I want to know what you think about Disney adding Google Home Smart Speakers to the hotel rooms in the Yacht Club…
- Do you think it’s a good idea?
- What other technology would you like to see Disney put into its hotels?

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
