Over the next few months some exciting additions are coming to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge pool area and some other amenities are being added.
If you’ve visited Disney’s Wilderness Lodge any time recently you surely noticed that the DVC Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have taken a new name and are now known as: Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The main reason behind this change besides the fact that it sounds way cooler, is that this new name better reflects the railroad theming of the resort and compliments its backstory.
Also you’ve noticed that the Hidden Springs Pool area at Boulder Ridge Villas has been closed for over a year now due to refurbishment. This pool area is being totally re-done and looks great. There’s an artist rendering in the above photo, which shows an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool in what appears to have been an abandoned rock quarry. This will open in Summer 2017.
Such rejuvenating transformations were common in the Pacific Northwest following the mid-20th-century fading of the Transcontinental Railroad, as locals turned rails into trails – re-purposing everything from bridges and tunnels to cranes and quarries. A nearby “Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co.” water tower will be among the pool area’s landmark reminders of its pioneering past, while a vintage mine cart supports the mining theme with an affectionate nod to Disney history.
Besides the new pool space there’s also a new bar & grill and a new quick service restaurant too. The Geyser Point Bar & Grill will be located in the middle of the feature pool area of Disney’ Wilderness Lodge, where you will be able to grab a bite and relax by the main pool. It looks like it will have plenty of space and the theming is right on with Boulder Ridge. Stay tuned for more updates on the enhancements!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
