Blizzard Beach Reopening from Refurbishment on January 19

Back over the Summer Disney has announced that Blizzard Beach would be closed starting in September for its annual refurbishment to the park. So far that has been the case, though the closure has lasted longer than the 4 months as originally expected.

Blizzard Beach refurbishment

(UPDATED 1/8/20): Blizzard Beach originally was supposed to close from September 8, 2019, to January 4, 2020, which is just about 4 months long in total. It’s common for Disney to close down Blizzard Beach during the colder season as not many guests would visit, plus there is some regular maintenance that always needs to be done.

Recently however Disney announced that the refurbishment to Blizzard Beach will instead last until January 18, 2020, and reopen on January 19.

This refurbishment is a bit uncommon in that it has lasted 6 weeks longer than normal, and this indicates perhaps some potential enhancements being added to Blizzard Beach by the time it reopens.

I don’t think any big changes are going to be added like a new attraction (there would already be plans in circulation) but there could be other enhancements perhaps to the dining options, adding new technology throughout the park or small improvements to the attractions.

Some water slide pieces were recently seen coming into Blizzard Beach, possibly for Summit Plummet.

Whatever it is that changes we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we find out more info. Stay tuned here to Ziggy Knows Disney for all the latest on the Blizzard Beach refurbishment!

Thanks for the info. Will check it out this fall. Hard to go to Disney and not go to a water park.

I would bet that it’s a signage refreshment that reopens the park with a frozen theme year round
