Just 2 days ago we found out that the Han Solo film was losing its two directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller over creative differences between them and Lucasfilm management. Now we’ve just found out who their replacement is going to be, and it’s not just anyone. Fans should be really happy with Academy Award winning Ron Howard directing Han Solo.
“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.”
Howard is a slam dunk imo for the still unnamed Han Solo film, he’s one of the biggest name directors of the modern era, having huge successes with such films as: Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code. We still don’t really know what the “creative differences” were between the previous Han Solo film directors and Lucasfilm, but whatever the deviation was from the original script, Howard should be able to get things back on track.
There were only 3 weeks left of filming to do before Howard took over, but there could potentially be some re-shoots coming when the filming resumes next month.
The Han Solo film is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release. Stay tuned for more updates…

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
