Just yesterday we told you that plastic straws were being removed from table service restaurants and now it looks like Walt Disney World quick service restaurants are now starting to remove plastic lids from drinks as well as plastic straws:
According to wdwnt.com you can still get the plastic straws at the condiment stations at the quick service restaurants, but you have to ask specially if you want the plastic lids. This was at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe but other quick service restaurants are following this procedure.
You can also request a Mickey straw, but you have to pay for it.
This is even more of a problem than plastic straws at table service locations because here you are on the move and it will make walking with your drink much harder than before. The amount of spills in Walt Disney World is about to go up exponentially!
Your Thoughts:
I want to know what you think about Walt Disney World Quick Service Restaurants removing Plastic Lids from Drinks…
- Are you in favor of the switch?
- What solutions should they offer instead?

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

I alway thought Disney sorted their trash to remove recycleable items like straws, lids and paper products. I commend Disney for doing this, but perhaps having a Disney employee bring the drinks to one's table (a la a number on the table) might reduce spillage. This could indeed get very messy.

that could help but they won't be able to walk anywhere with their cups still

I am pleased they are removing plastic but they do need to think of something else for the lids. Maybe make the cups taller but still same amount of drink then they wont spill so easily? Or a lid made of similar stuff to the paper straws.

yeah, I agree. They need to come up with something or there are going to be even more sticky kids and parents walking around WDW
