I’m deeply saddened to say that a legend of Walt Disney World has passed today. Richard Gerth, who was famous as being the greeter at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has passed away at 92 years old.
Of course Richard greeted guests, but he was so much more. He always brought a smile to your face and made you feel like you were at home! One of his responsibilities was to assist the brides who got married in Walt Disney World. And he did a fantastic job! In total he helped in over 3,500 weddings throughout his career at Disney.
Richard Gerth recently suffered from pneumonia and was placed under hospice care. He passed away just after midnight this morning
We will miss you…. R.I.P
You can find out more about Richard Gerth on his Fan Facebook Page here.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
