As if there weren’t already enough amazing places to eat in Walt Disney World, it was recently announced that the immensely popular ice cream shop Salt & Straw is coming to Disney Springs!
If you’ve been to the Downtown Disney District recently you may already be familiar with Salt & Straw and their absolutely incredible ice cream. For real, this stuff is amazingly tasty.
The Oregon-based company started in 2011 and now has multiple locations, mostly on the West Coast.
They have garnered an almost cult-like following and are known for their unique and creative flavors. The ice cream is handmade and very rich and creamy and honestly some of the best we’ve ever tried anywhere.
Some of the more popular flavors include: Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Honey Lavender, Arbequina Olive Oil, and Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons.
Salt & Straw is opening in Disney Springs sometime in 2022, although there is no opening date at this time.

“America’s favorite artisan ice cream company, Salt & Straw, expands its presence to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” with the debut of its scoop shop at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort next year. This location marks the third location in Florida, and the 27th location nationwide.“

Salt & Straw presently has scoop shops in Portland, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay area, San Diego, Seattle, Miami, and the Downtown Disney® District in Anaheim, California.”
Salt & Straw CEO and co-found Kim Malek had this to say:
“It’s a dream come true for our little Portland, Oregon ice cream company to have the opportunity to expand our relationship with Disney and open at Disney Springs next year. We love to use ice cream to remix flavors you already know and love while exploring food trends, social issues and small, local makers. It’s so exciting to bring our unique combination of comfort and adventure to the big stage at Disney World.”
It looks like we are going to be adding another location to our list of the best restaurants at Disney Springs once Salt & Straw opens, and we are anticipating it ranking very high!
Most likely it will go in the space that was originally planned for the Ample Hills location at Disney Springs over on the West Side across the walkway from Splitsville since it is no longer getting built.
Overall, we are thrilled Salt & Straw is coming to Disney Springs and we are happy we don’t have to wait until we go out to California to visit. It’s a natural fit and will be an instant hit with the Disney World crowds.
