There’s so much movement involving Disney films these days it’s hard to keep up with all the news. The latest rumor has Sam Mendes to Direct Pinocchio Live Action remake. Could it be possible? Nothing is certain yet, but according to Variety, Mendes is in ‘early talks’ with Disney to do just that.
Pinocchio would be coming off the heels of a long list of Disney classics-turned-remakes, some with great success (The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast) others less so, (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent). It’s also joining a long list of Live-action remakes currently in progress like Aladdin, The Lion King and Dumbo to name a few.
Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano from Depth of Field are producing the film and Mendes would come on as director if talks go well. Mendes is a well respected director in Hollywood, having directed hits such as the last two James Bond films: Spectre and Skyfall, as well as American Beauty for which he won an Oscar for Best Director.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
