Since June, the original Space Mountain exit has been closed down and a new temporary exit was constructed, re-routing guests finishing the attraction, outside near the new Tron coaster construction. Now the New Space Mountain Exit is open is Disney’s Magic Kingdom with some major changes to the previous version.
Here is the old temporary version:
Before when exiting Space Mountain, there was an automated ramp/walkway which brought you up the hill, showing you some futuristic scenes of what the future could be. Those scenes are still there and largely not changed, however that automatic ramp is no longer there and you’re going to have to walk the whole way up, which is no small trip and could be strenuous after a head-jarring ride on Space Mountain!
You’ll also notice the hallway which was very dark is now white, and the roof with the monitors is now gone and has been replaced with a pretty empty light-colored room as well. There is a walkway there and some lights hanging from the ceiling now. At the end of the Space Mountain exit it still brings guests up to the Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. building, but this time it puts you out in the middle of the room.
Here is a video from @LaughingPlace which shows a walk-through of the new Space Mountain exit:
Not sure why exactly the ramps were removed, I don’t see the point of that and think it’s a downgrade obviously. I guess the good news is that I’ll burn off that extra churro I ate now a little easier!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.

I understand that the Speed Ramp was too cost preventative to maintain. There are no longer manufacturers that Disney could contact for repair parts, etc. So Disney had to build their own repair equipment, Sad to see the Speed Ramp go.

I love it, it’s beautoful! I worked at space mountain and to be honest, the speed ramp was annoying because we would have to ESTOP it when people were climbing on the moving handrails and turning it back on was kind of a pain. Although, the speed ramp camera was super fun to watch LOL!
