At a D23: Destination D presentation yesterday, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek showed to the world the latest generation of MagicBands coming to Walt Disney World. This new MagicBand, the MagicBand 2, will continue to push to innovate and personalize each guest’s experience at Walt Disney World. Here’s a look at the new technology!
The most obvious thing you notice is the new design which is markedly different from the old model. It will make the new MagicBand more customizable, which is always the #1 request of park goers. The MagicBand 2 has a puck-like object as its sensor, and will allow you to remove it from the band itself and attach it to other objects such as a key ring. This is a welcome idea for those of use who don’t want to wear the MagicBand around our wrist, especially in the 95 degree Florida heat.
It will however still work like the old magic bands in that you will be able to connect to My Disney Experience, use it for park entrance tickets, FastPass+ selections, Disney PhotoPass card, and as your Disney resort room key. Other new features are yet to be determined.
This new MagicBand 2 will begin rolling out in the next few months, with annual pass holders being among the first to receive them as they renew their memberships. This is very exciting news as Disney continues to advance the technology it uses in its parks! Stay tuned for more updates!
If you enjoyed this article, as always I appreciate it if you’d share it with others via social media. I work hard at making this website into a useful resource for you and your family to plan your visit to Walt Disney World, and I hope it can help you! Thanks 🙂

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
