Today is a double-dipper as we have news of a second 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas announcement! As we know, Hong Kong Disneyland is undergoing a multi-year expansion and is doing something that’s never been done in the history of a Disney Park: a complete transformation of a Disney Park Castle. The Hong Kong Disneyland castle is going to be totally recreated, using different storybook influences and styles.
The castle will have thematic spires, domes and a design that seems to continue upwards forever into the sky. You will notice many different Disney stories making their mark on the castle including spire decorations influenced Snow White’s apple, Cinderella’s coach and Belle’s rose.
The castle in Hong Kong Disneyland will also include a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and a Disney Princess meet and greet area. Having a new castle will also be key in allowing new updated nighttime spectaculars and fireworks shows to use the castle as their backdrop, much like Happily Ever After in Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Work on the castle will begin after the finale of the “Disney in the Stars” fireworks on January 1, and the expansion plan will continue to bring new entertainment to the park almost every year through 2023. Local and international guests alike won’t want to miss the exciting new offerings coming soon to Hong Kong Disneyland!
I don’t know how I feel about the mixed castle theming, it will have to be done really well to not look like a big mess imo, but I’m hopeful Disney will be able to pull it off. I’ll have to see the final product before making my final judgment.

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
