Back in February we learned that a big renovation is coming to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and today as part of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas we got to see some concept art for the Caribbean Beach Resort renovation and it looks really cool!
Old Port Royale at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is being completely reimagined and will be where guests check in when arriving at the resort before going off on their Caribbean vacation. This will serve as a centralized location with convenient access to services, amenities and dining, which includes the brand new Centertown Market for a quick meal, or the all-new Shutters for a table service restaurant. Shutters sounds like the place to be as it will have water front dining! There will also be a Banana Cabana outdoor bar and lounge, and the Calypso Trading Post for all your shopping needs.
Centertown Market which you can see above, will be bigger than before, and also enclosed and will be the place to go for quick service. The structure looks quite nice, bright and fun. You can see from the picture the huge wooden pillars and shutters decorating the interior and it will have glowing colored light pendants made from glass bottles offering a nice local touch!
The place I really want to check out though is Shutters, a Caribbean-inspired table-service restaurant. The location is idle, right on the waterfront of Old Port Royale, making guests really feel like they are on the islands, being decorated naturally with leaves and floral design.
If you are looking for a drink or something to eat by the pool, you will find it at Banana Cabana, which should be a nice, relaxing spot to go.
Shopping at the Calypso Trading Post will offer shoppers Disney merchandise and other vacation essentials that are needed!
I’m optimistic about the changes to the Caribbean Beach Resort, it really needed an update and it’s been a bit rough in the current transformation phase, but it should be beautiful when done!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
