One of the most popular attractions in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Kali River Rapids, is closing for refurbishment in early 2020. After the holiday period, it’s typical for Disney World to close down some of its attractions for regular maintenance.
Kali River Rapids will be closed from January 6, 2020, until March 20, 2020. If it has to close then I’m happy it’s during this period when the weather is a bit cooler anyway and not in July when it feels great to get soaked!
As of now, there is no word of the Kali River Rapids refurbishment being anything more than normal maintenance. We’ll keep you posted if any significant changes are made.
These types of refurbishments are normal in Walt Disney World during this time of year. As the crowds start to die down a bit it gives the maintenance crews time to do necessary work on the rides to keep them in top shape and address any small issues they might be having.
Last year right around this time Kali River Rapids went down for refurbishment too, so it’s nothing out of the norm.
This isn’t the only attraction closure in 2020 as the Magic Kingdom is having some big ones too. Over in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain is getting a refurbishment starting in January and the Walt Disney World Railroad will remain closed through most of 2020 to make room for the TRON roller coaster construction.
In Epcot, Test Track is closing in January as well and will be down for a solid 6 weeks.
We’ll keep you updated on the refurbishment to Kali River Rapids and let you know if there are any big changes to announce. Stay tuned here at Ziggy Knows Disney for more…
