UPDATE: Friendship Boats to Epcot Closed Temporarily for Disney Skyliner Construction

Friendship Boats to Epcot Closed Temporarily Disney Skyliner ConstructionStarting November 28, 2018 the Friendship Boats transportation to Epcot will be closed temporarily due to Disney Skyliner construction going on at the International Gateway.

UPDATE 11/30/18: Disney has said that the Friendship Boat Service to Epcot will only be affected at night from 9:30pm onwards.  If guests are leaving the park after that and going to anyone of the Epcot area hotels they can either walk or take bus transportation to their hotel.

As we saw earlier this month, the Disney World Skyliner cable is being hung from the support towers around property, starting with the Hollywood Studios station.  Now construction workers are getting ready to hang the Skyliner cables at the Epcot International Gateway too.

The walkway to the International Gateway won’t be closed during this time, but only the Friendship Boats, so you can still enter Epcot on foot if you like.  Otherwise the monorail and buses are running as alternatives from your hotel.

The Friendship Boats will still be running during this time from the Epcot area hotels to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, just not to Epcot.  The Friendship Boats are expected to reopen in early-mid December.  Make transportation arrangements to Epcot accordingly…

The Disney Skyliner is opening in Fall 2019.  Check out my latest Construction Update for the Disney Skyliner here.

Your Thoughts:

I want to know what you think about the Friendship Boats closing temporarily…

  • Will you be there during that time?
  • Are you happy the Disney Skyliner is coming to WDW?
