We knew that this day coming since the announcement was made that a new Marvel-themed land is coming to Disney California Adventure last year, but now Disney has officially announced A Bug’s Land in Disney California Adventure is closing today September 4th, 2018.
A Bug’s Land opened in 2002 shortly after the initial California Adventure opening, and is home to 4 attractions, all geared toward small kids. Some of the old A Bug’s Land attractions though will be put to good use as the new Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind attraction coming to Pixar Pier is actually the old Flik’s Flyers attraction, just reimagined. This will make up for the loss of all the kids’ attractions from A Bug’s Land.
The new Marvel Land in California Adventure is one of three Marvel-themed lands coming to Disney parks around the world (Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong the others) and will have the current Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! attractions and at least two more attractions. One is rumored to be a Spider-Man themed attraction, possibly a dark-ride of sorts and the other is an Avengers attractions, possibly a roller coaster.
Disney is saying the Marvel Land will be open in California Adventure in 2020, which I’m a bit surprised by seeing as we haven’t really seen any significant construction progress made yet. Stay tuned!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
