According to Jambo Everyone new Tiger Cubs are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Because of poaching and habitat loss, Sumatran tigers are highly endangered. There are only about 400-500 in the wild, of which about 100 of those live in unprotected areas.
When Disney brought the Sumatran Tigers into the Animal Kingdom, the hope was that someday cubs would follow. Sohni, the female, and Malosi were successful and cubs are expected sometime in August!
Apparently the Sumatran Tigers do quite well in captivity and Disney is part of the Species Survival Plan, a national program dedicated to helping the survival of this beautiful animal, and one day reintroducing them into the wilds.
Here is the official announcement from Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment Facebook Page:
Stay tuned for more info about when and where you will be able to see them in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
