Earlier this year, Disney announced that the Main Street Confectionery and The Chapeau in Disney’s Magic Kingdom are getting a big refurbishment ahead of The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration.
The Main Street Confectionery refurbishment started on March 29, 2021. The work is almost complete and Disney has just announced that the Main Street Confectionery is reopening on September 29, 2021.
That means it will be open in time for the start of the Disney World 50th Anniversary in October.
The Main Street Confectionery is one of the most popular spots in the park for anyone with a sweet tooth. This re-imagineering of the shop will give it more floor space for guests and we are definitely intrigued by the customization options.
The Disney Parks Blog says the Main Street Confectionery will “receive a fresh new look, expanded layout with more room to shop and interactive opportunities to customize your confections like never before.”
We’re excited to see all the new interactive features to customize your sweet treats and also the expanded layout.
In order to make these needed upgrades, the Main Street Confectionery and The Chapeau needed to temporarily shut down. In the meantime, some of the merchandise and snacks normally found there are available at the Emporium and Main Street Cinema.
A selection of Disney hats can be found across the street at Box Office Gifts at the Town Square Theater.
Overall, we are excited about this update. The Confectionery is one of our favorite spots to stop for a snack, and even if we aren’t hungry we always look to see what new creations they are coming up with. We can’t wait to see what these new customizable options will be like, but it sounds like a good move since some of the snacks around the park can be repetitive at times.
Once the new Main Street Confectionery reopens we’ll have a first look for you at all the changes so stay tuned for more.
