Germany Review: 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival

Menu review:
Schinkennudeln, Schinkennudeln, Schinkennudeln!! Huh?? No, I’m not mad at you, I’m telling you that you need to try the Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese right now! Basically it’s a real fancy German way to say Mac and Cheese, and oh does this live up to the billing..
Now this is different from the Farm Fresh version, which is super sexy with the added bacon crumbles on top. And while that version is amazing and I do love it, overall this beats it by a narrow margin. The unique flavors of the cheese are very European, different from the traditional cheddar versions we always eat here. It’s also filled with chunks of ham which is like bacon’s brother.
Plus, look at that big portion they give you! It’s really filling, and at $3.75 it’s a steal! I’ll say it right now: the Schinkennudeln is the best value at the 2016 Food and Wine Festival, hands down! And one of My 15 Things you Must Try at Food and Wine this year!
There’s also the Roast Bratwurst in a Hard Roll, which is always solid. Who doesn’t love getting themselves a nice Germany Brat and washing it down with a beer? The Brat itself is very tasty, the only complaint is they got rid of the Pretzel Roll and replaced it with just a normal roll. I think Canada in a fit of rage, stole the Pretzel Rolls from Germany to put with the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup. I guess they couldn’t have more than Pretzel Roll at Food and Wine…
There’s also dessert with the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce being a nice option. Nothing says Germany like Apple Strudel, except Black Forest Cake with cherries….hmmm I may have just thought of next year’s dessert option! The strudel has a very thin crust, which I like and it’s full of apples, which I like as well! 🙂
The unfiltered Radeberger Zwickel Pilsner, is a nice Beer option. Otherwise there are a bunch of wines available too like the J&H Selbach Bernkasteler Kurfürstlay Riesling Kabinett, J&H Selbach Bernkasteler Kurfürstlay Riesling, and Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese.
Booth Summary and Grade:
Germany as usual is a great choice as you make your way around. Overall great food and drinks. Hopefully next year they add one more savory item to the menu, and my Black Forest Cake! If you are looking for a Brat or The BEST Mac and Cheese this Food and Wine season, head no further than to Germany!
If you have to get just one thing: Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham and Cheese
Grade: 8

My name is Ziggy and I love Disney, everything Disney! I grew up on Disney and it has and continues to be a huge part of my life. I started young when my parents took me to Disney World when I was 18 months old. Little did they know that would be the first of an uncountable number of trips we would take. I have so many amazing memories going to Disney with my family and friends and it has been interwoven into my DNA.
