Sublight Lounge at Galactic Starcruiser | Menu & Info

If you’ve ever wanted to step inside a real-life Star Wars bar that looks straight out of the films, the Sublight Lounge is your chance!  This is the bar located on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser and it’s one of the highlights of the entire voyage!

In this post, we are going to share everything you need to know about the Sublight Lounge bar which opened on March 1, 2022, with the debut of the new Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel.

We’ll have all the info and details for you including the menu, prices, how to make reservations, and hours of operation.  We’ll give you a full tour of the lounge including the atmosphere and theming, which is out-of-this-world!

We’ve finally had a chance to try the Sublight Lounge now that it’s open, and we spent a ton of time in there during our Galactic Starcruiser voyage. That way we can give you a walkthrough of the restaurant and a full review of all the food and drinks.

The Sublight Lounge is a stylish bar and the perfect place to go to sip a beverage and relax on the Halcyon starcruiser.  This isn’t your typical Star Wars cantina like in “A New Hope” where you expect to find a “hive of scum and villainy,” the Sublight Lounge is a much more posh, elegant, and sophisticated location.

Disney Imagineers worked hard when designing this lounge to make what has turned out to be a relaxing and intimate space, yet one that is vital to the storytelling part of the voyage. 

That’s right, the Sublight Lounge is not only a place to get good drinks, but part of the immersive experience, and some of the activities on the Galactic Starcruiser will lead you here.

This is one of the two dining locations on the Galactic Starcruiser, the other being the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.  The Sublight Lounge though is more a place to go for drinks rather than food.

If you like Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge, you are going to love the Sublight Lounge!  Let’s look at it more in detail…

Are Reservations Required?

Thankfully, reservations are not required at the Sublight Lounge and you can just walk in and grab a table or a spot at the bar.

We were surprised at how well this is organized and how easy it is to get in. Even though seating is limited, we never had a hard time finding a seat, and yet at the same time it always felt like it was full.

With so many other things to do onboard it rarely gets too crowded, even though it is one of the most popular areas of the Galactic Starcruiser.

Dining Plan

At this time, there haven’t been any announcements about whether or not the Disney Dining Plan will be available at the Sublight Lounge.  When the Disney Dining Plan is running it is offered in the majority of Disney World restaurants giving guests the option to pre-pay for their meals or snacks.  

However, there is really no need for it at the Sublight Lounge since all the food is free and alcoholic and specialty drinks are the only thing you need to pay for, and those are not offered with the Dining Plan under normal circumstances as individual purchases anyway.

At this time, Disney does not offer guests any discounts at the Sublight Lounge.  The Galactic Starcruiser is an exclusive experience, and saving money is not really high on the agenda here so don’t expect it.

Location/Directions

The Sublight Lounge is located in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, near Disney’s Hollywood Studios park in Walt Disney World.  It is located on Deck 6 of the starcruiser right off the Atrium.

Getting to Sublight Lounge is really easy.  Just go to Deck 6, which is the main floor of the hotel.  If you are coming from the cabins or from Decks 5 or 7, just walk into the middle of the Atrium and make a right-hand turn and it will be right in front of you.

Hours of Operation

The Sublight Lounge is open all day and serves a quick breakfast in the morning and then it has an all-day menu of drinks and snacks.

• Grab-and-Go Breakfast: 7:00 am – 10:00 am
• Sublight Lounge Hours: 7:00 am – 12:00 am or 1:00 am

It’s not a big location so it makes sense to keep it open for at least a good part of the day in order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to visit. It’s also nice to have it open late into the evening because it’s a nice place to just grab a drink late before going to bed and to soak up the atmosphere

FAQs

Does the Sublight Lounge Serve Alcohol?

Yes, it does.  The Sublight Lounge serves both specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Are Drinks Included in the Price of the Galactic Starcruiser Package?

Alcoholic drinks on board the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser are not included in the vacation package and must be paid for separately.  Some non-alcoholic drinks are included (like soda and coffee), but alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty drinks require additional payment.

We know most guests are upset to hear this and feel that alcohol should be included in an experience as costly as this.  Disney however, is following the cruise ship method and making alcohol an additional purchase.

Is There Food Served at Sublight Lounge?

Yes, there is. The Sublight Lounge not only serves drinks but also small plates similar to what you might find in other Disney World lounges. The emphasis is on small though, which is fine since there is plenty of food already at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Trust us, you won’t be hungry to eat anything bigger.

There are 7 food items on the menu, which is a lot more than Oga’s Cantina. All the food items are free and served at no charge to the guests.

Can Non-Hotel Guests Visit the Sublight Lounge?

No, they can’t.  The Sublight Lounge is exclusive to guests staying onboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.  That means it’s the only way to visit and you can’t try it unless you are staying there.

How Big is the Sublight Lounge?

Not very big at all. The Sublight Lounge has a maximum capacity of only 64 guests at a time. It is a very small space, giving it an exclusive feel.

If you compare its size to the nearby Atrium, it looks like it’s about ¼ the size, maybe even smaller.  It’s definitely smaller than Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge.

Is the Sublight Lounge 21 and Older?

You do not need to be 21 years old to visit the Sublight Lounge, and there is no age requirement whatsoever. Guests younger than 21 can enter the Sublight Lounge and enjoy non-alcoholic drinks and snacks just like they can at Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge.

Review

Finally, we’ve had a chance to visit the Sublight Lounge, and it turned out to be our favorite place to hang out on the Halcyon Starcruiser. We spent a good time there each afternoon and evening in order to try all the delicious drinks they concocted for you to try.

Atmosphere & Theming

The atmosphere at the Sublight Lounge can be described as posh and sophisticated.  It’s something more like out of a high-end casino in a luxury hotel, than the typical Star Wars bars you are used to. 

It all starts from outside…

The Sublight Lounge is easily accessible from the atrium and you will hear laughter coming from within that will no doubt draw you in to take a closer look.

Ok, right now it’s empty, but when you are here there will be laughter, I promise.

Right at the entrance to the Sublight Lounge, we find an interesting piece of history from the Halcyon’s past.

This is a bottle left over from the maiden voyage of the Halcyone by the Anzellian founder of Chandrila Star Line, Shug Drabor.

Once you step inside you can get a look at the interior theming and decoration.

When you step into the lounge, you will see the long bar in front of you.  There are seats at the bar for patrons, and the whole area is brightly lit with blue accents. 

There are small tables and stools both to the left and right sides of the room.

We really love the color scheme and the general vibe that the Sublight Lounge gives off.

Obviously, the Sabacc table stands out the most and is the center point of the room. When the Halcyon was run by the Hutts, it was a high-end casino and the Sabacc table is the lone remembrance of that time.

Again, you notice a huge difference between Oga’s Cantina and here. While Oga’s is definitely more rough-around-the-edges, the Sublight Lounge gives off an air of sophistication and class.

On the second day, we stayed in here for over an hour just to soak up the cool atmosphere.

Even though it is sophisticated, I’m sure a fight would break out every now and then back in the day when it was a casino.

The focal point of the room is the playable hologram sabacc table and when guests are playing, all eyes are drawn there.

The space is small and the lounge doesn’t hold many guests, and it gives off a very exclusive yet relaxing feel to it.

There are normal tables in the middle of the room, but even better are the large half-circle booths in alcoves on the sides of the room with what looks like velvet lining the wall behind the guests. 

We absolutely love the booths and recommend you wait for one of those tables.

They are laid out similar to Oga’s Cantina in shape, but they have a much more elegant look to them. They are also smaller than at Oga’s and fit about 6 people comfortably between the two tables.

The stools in the middle of the room and at the booths were pretty comfortable and very low to the ground.

The wall behind the booths is definitely a highlight of the decor. The bottom half is made from an orange leather and is very comfy to lean on, while the top half is more like velvet and adds an richness to the room.

The lighting in the table is similar to the one found in the bar and tables at Oga’s Cantina and has a very cool effect.

There are a few other really strange details in the room like this alien-looking fish inside the glass display.

The containers filled with liquid bubbles behind the bar also look interesting.

Entertainment

Right now, there aren’t any official performers at the Sublight Lounge as there are over at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.  However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be entertainment to enjoy.

Enter…Sabacc.

Disney has built an actual holotable for the Sabacc games.  If you aren’t familiar with them, in the Star Wars universe, a holotable is a piece of furniture that projects holograms above its surface for people to visualize. 

They are used in the military for battle analysis, meanwhile, civilians use them to communicate, and in this case, to play games like Sabacc.

After many sabacc games on the starcruiser, this is where you want to spend your time when here, either participating in the game or watching it. While there were people playing on a regular basis, it wasn’t that hard to get a seat at the table except after dinner when it was packed.

Here is a look at the digital screen and the buttons you need to press to play.

If you don’t know how to play Sabacc, no worries. It was easy to catch on and everyone was friendly and helped the beginners.

There are Sabacc lessons you can sign up for while on the starcruiser.  Once you learn, Sabacc tournaments are held here so it promises to be quite an exciting place to hang out.

These are the dice that roll each time and let you know which cards you are looking for.

You can look at your cards on the screen or in the hologram on the table only visible from your side.

It’s a very similar concept to poker with betting, so if you have any experience playing that you will catch on immediately.

If for some reason you can’t get a seat at the official table, just ask one of the crew members for a deck of Sabacc cards and you can play at another table or in the atrium.

But Saabacc isn’t the only entertainment at the Sublight Lounge. From time to time some of the characters from the Galactic Starcruiser will mingle with the guests.

Gaia and some of the other characters came in while we were enjoying a drink and took photos and talked with us for a few minutes.

Even the Captain came.

Later on Day 2, some of your missions may take place in the Sublight Lounge and you may have to follow the characters here for a secret meeting.

Gaia’s suitcase is very important later on in the story of the Halcyon…

Enough play, I’m hungry and thirsty so let’s see what’s on the menu.

Food and Drinks

The atmosphere is no doubt incredible, but we are also here for some out-of-this-world Star Wars drinks!

The food and beverage team that came up with the menu at Sublight Lounge has come up with many dazzling offerings that are nothing you’ve seen before, each with its own unique twist.  The drinks are similar to Oga’s Cantina, but we would even argue they are better as a whole. 

The brand new menu of drinks includes the Hoth Frost and the Mooja Twist, among others.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are priced similarly to Oga’s Cantina and range from $16-$18 for alcoholic drinks and $7-$8 for non-alcoholic specialty drinks.

Sometimes at the Sublight Lounge, you will find crew members giving a complimentary drink mixing and tasting course guests can participate in.

The drinks during the lesson are all non-alcoholic, but it’s still cool to learn about each one and how they are made, and they are free!

Throughout your stay, you will see the talented bartenders hard at work at their craft.

Let’s take a look at the menu. One side is for Specialty Non-Alcoholic drinks and the various Beer and Wine choices on tap.

The other side is for the specialty alcoholic cocktails.

Drinks

The presentation of the drinks in Sublight Lounge Cantina is awesome! The glasses they are served in are awesome, they are very sleek and definitely have a “Star Wars space-vibe” going on. Some of the drinks come in special souvenir glasses too like the Fiery Mustafarian or the Dagobah Vimlet.

The taste of the drinks themselves is equally as impressive and many of them have some kind of “gimmick” to keep your attention and make you feel like you are being served something truly special.

Mark of the Huntress

(Bourbon Whiskey, Peach-infused Blackcurrant, Orgeat (Almond), Lemon, Sparkling Bubbles)

We enjoyed it and it had a nice flavor with all the fruit mixed with bourbon. It was strong but not too strong. Our only knock was the price as it’s the most expensive that doesn’t come in a glass you can take home.

Hoth Icebreaker

(Voda, Lemon, Pure Cane Sugar, Vanilla-Lemon Foam)

Of all the drinks we tried, the Hoth Icebreaker was our hands-down favorite. This was so addicting and we had a couple of them during our stay. It has a strong lemon taste (which we love) and it is definitely sweet.

To start, this drink has a gorgeous presentation including the insulated glass it comes served in. Very Instagrammable.

The lemon foam was very thick and frothy, almost like a meringue. The pure cane sugar chip on top helped send this drink to #1 for us.

Fiery Mustafarian

(*Served with Lava Extract*, Añejo Tequila, Mezcal, Stone Fruit, Lime, Chili, Black Salt)

Though it wasn’t my personal favorite, the Fiery Mustafarian was a big hit on the Galactic Starcruiser, and almost everyone I talked to absolutely loved it.

It has a definite smokey and spicy flavor, like a margarita almost. It even comes with “Lava Extract” which you pour into the drink to add more spice. It’s almost like a chili/cinnamon sauce and our friends raved about it!

Add as little or as much as you want, it’s up to you.

We were big fans of the black salt that the rim is dipped in.

It’s the most expensive drink on the menu, but it comes with an awesome souvenir glass and pedestal you can take home with you. If you order it without the souvenir glass it’s about half the price.

Cloud of Bespin

(Rum, Lemon, Orgeat (Almond), Passion Fruit, Falernum-Lemon Foam)

This is another smashing success, and similar to the Hoth Icebreaker because of the foam on top. This foam had a slightly different flavor (like a lemon-lime and ginger flavor) but it was equally as yummy.

The overall drink was lemony-tasting with some passion fruit to balance out the tart with sweetness. If you don’t like drinks that are too strong, this one is for you.

Pod Chaser (Old Fashioned)

(Bourbon, Bitters, Orange Zest)

I feel like there are a ton of bourbon drinks on the menu, and the Pod Chaser was perhaps our favorite of the bunch.

There was plenty of alcohol but it has a slightly sweet taste too. It’s not that they did something really special to it, but it was just the perfect blend of ingredients and went down smooth.

We also love the chilled metallic sphere they put in the glass instead of ice cubes.

Dagobah Vimlet (Vodka Gimlet)

(Vodka, Herbaceous Orange Liqueur, Lime, Peppercorn)

The Dagobah Vimlet is a vodka gimlet and it has a very earthy and herby taste to it. The peppercorn flavor was strong and it tasted something like grass, which I didn’t like at all but some of our friends really enjoyed.

If you like herby-flavored drinks then you will probably love it.

Mandalore Sling (Manhattan)

(Chilled Bourbon, Vermouth, Luxardo)

This is your basic Manhattan and there wasn’t anything too special about it. We enjoyed it and thought the alcohol quality and quantity were right, but we were hoping for something a little more interesting in the presentation.

Muja Twist

(Watermelon, Herbal Garden Blend, Mint, Sparkling Bubbles)

The Muja Twist was our first non-alcoholic drink of the trip, but we weren’t really feeling it. It has a tart flavor yet we felt the mint was a bit too overpowering for our taste. We both took a couple of sips and then left the rest on the table and needless to say we wouldn’t order it again.

Gaia’s Special Drink (Secret Menu Item)

Gaia’s Special is one you have to ask about as it’s not on the menu. It’s a non-alcoholic drink and it was very light and tasted like apple and cucumber. I would say it’s refreshing and good if you don’t want alcohol, but there are so many other drinks I would order again before this one.

Food

The food menu in the Sublight Lounge is concentrated on small plates and stuff that is very shareable with others. It’s also FREE so you can order as much of it as you want.

Also, if you order food inside the lounge the menu has a few more items on it than if you order from the atrium. So if you want to experience everything you need to be in the lounge.

What is this? Sporks are back at Disney World!

That’s right, like the famous sporks at Docking Bay 7, the Sublight Lounge has them too. These sporks are way nicer though and have a shiny finish instead of the dull finish at Docking Bay 7.

Felucian Snack Bites

This is just your basic snack mix you could find at almost any bar. It has almonds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, dried apricots, and another nut that is escaping my memory at the moment.

It’s good just to munch on, but there is much better here…

Crispy-dried Green Beans

(Served with Creamy Green Pearberry Dip)

I’m not one to usually order green beans in a restaurant, and these didn’t particularly appeal to me before we ordered them, but they actually turned out to be really delicious and addicting. They are salty and super light and crunchy.

They come with an avocado dip, but If you want to take these green beans to the next level try dipping them in the plant-based sriracha aioli which we just couldn’t get enough of.

Mustafar Tuber Chips

(Dusted with Sriracha and Charcoal Vinegar)

Speaking of the chips, these things were incredible. The chips themselves are thick-cut and super crispy. They are dusted in a sriracha and charcoal vinegar, giving them a nice tang that we loved.

The real star here was the plant-based sriracha aioli which we couldn’t get enough of. It was the perfect blend of spicy and creamy and it was the perfect accompaniment.

The second we tried them it was a race to see who could finish them first so make sure to order enough if you are with a big group. Anyone who likes potato chips is going to fall in love with these!

Hummus and Quinoa “Meatballs”

(Pepper Stew with Chickpea Bites)

These “meatballs” are an option if you are looking for a plant-based option on the menu, but they were still behind most of the others. The actual “meatball” part is made from hummus and quinoa, and the consistency is like a moist falafel.

They are served with a pepper stew over the top of them to add more flavor to them. Again, they are decent, but we probably wouldn’t order them again.

Smoked Redfish Littletubes

(Felucian Gardenleaf and Redfish Roe)

This is definitely the most “love-it or hate-it” item on the menu and we are leaning more toward the later. Think of these as fish cannoli. They have the same type of shell as a cannoli and are stuffed with a cream cheese-based fish dip.

The two ends of the littletubes are topped with everything bagel seasoning and redfish rose. If you like fish and roe, then give them a shot you might enjoy them.

They have a fishy taste, so if you don’t like that, you will want to skip them. I didn’t personally like them, but our friends at the next table said they were great, so again, it depends on your taste.

Little Flatbread

(Pepperoni and Herb-Vinegar Sauce)

Even though the flatbread isn’t the most inventive thing on the menu, it was our overall favorite and we could have downed at least 4-5 of them if we weren’t absolutely stuffed from the buffet lunch downstairs.

This is essentially a mini pepperoni pizza. The crust was thin and chewy, not stale-tasting, and better than most Disney World pizza crusts out there. The sauce was pretty tasty, not too acidic and there was plenty of melty mozzarella cheese all around.

The pepperoni was thin and cooked perfectly. We also really enjoyed the herb-vinegar sauce on top for a little extra flavor. Much better than we were expecting and a must-try.

Smoked Cheese en Cloche

(White Cheddar with Bacon and Jalepeño Crusted in Dried Cheddar, Black Goat Cheese Crusted in Pumpkin Seeds, Smoked Gouda with Crushed Pistachios)

Lastly, we have the food item with the best presentation, the smoked cheese! Our anticipation was building greatly when we saw the fancy glass lid filled with smoke arrive at the table.

Once that lid comes off, you get a whiff of that good smokiness! It’s a great moment and definitely Instagram-worthy.

Once the smoke clears you can get a good look at the different cheeses and crackers. There are 3 different cheese balls inside. The first is made with white cheddar with bacon and jalapeño crusted in dried cheddar. The second is a black goat cheese crusted in pumpkin seeds, and our personal favorite, the smoked gouda with crushed pistachios.

They are served alongside some lavosh crackers which were super thin and crispy, great for scooping the cheese. We loved the tomato spread and could have eaten more of that on the crackers even without the cheese.

The white cheddar and bacon one was the most similar to a classic cheese ball. It was sharp but not too sharp and the bacon of course was excellent matched with it. The jalapeño flavor didn’t really stand out to us, so if you are worried about it being spicy, don’t be.

The second cheese ball was the black goat cheese with pumpkin seeds. It had a pungent goat cheese flavor like you would expect and the same texture you would expect. If you like goat cheese you will love it, if not, it might be too strong for you.

Lastly, we had the smoked gouda with crushed pistachios. This was amazing! The cheese has a mild and delicate flavor and not overpowering. That was perfect with the pistachios so you could actually taste them. Since it wasn’t too strong we could have easily eaten 2-3 of them.

Overall, we really enjoyed the small plates served at Sublight Lounge. We would keep all of them except the “meatballs” and the littletubes, which were not our favorites. The portion sizes are perfect for snacking and sharing, and the best part is that it’s all free and you can always just order more if you like.

Breakfast

Besides a place to enjoy a drink later in the day, the Sublight Lounge is also the place to go in the morning if you don’t want a buffet breakfast from the Crown of Corellia Dining Room and just want a quick bite instead.

There is a drinks station on the bar where you will find fresh coffee and orange juice.

There are tea bags, honey, and fresh lemons you can choose from.

There is also half & half or skim milk to add to your coffee or tea if you wish.

If you really want something quick, grab a mandarine orange or a banana on your way to Galaxy’s Edge in the morning.

If you are looking for something a bit more substantial, there are to-go breakfasts already boxed up and waiting for you. Grab one and be on your way.

Inside the box, you will find a small muffin, donut, fruit cup, and yogurt with acai, quinoa granola, and yuzu jelly.

They are all items you will also find downstairs at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, just packed into a to-go box to make it easier for you.

In our opinion, unless you really are stretched for time, we would eat at Crown of Corellia Dining Room instead as there are an infinite number of better choices for breakfast.
