Whenever we’re at brunch you know I’m gonna have a mimosa in hand, so the Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar was our very first marketplace at the Food and Wine Festival this year! Pastries, 5 different Mimosas and a Frozen Apple Pie were just too good to pass up! Let’s see how it all tastes in our Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar Review at the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival…
Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar Marketplace:
The Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar is a brand new marketplace this year at the Food and Wine Festival and it’s located inside the Food and Wine Festival Center along with Crafts Drafts and The Festival Wine Shop. Make your way down the steps and it’s the first thing you’ll see on the right:
Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar Menu:
There are some pastries on the menu, Almond and Chocolate Croissants, a Cheese Danish and a Jumbo Blueberry Muffin. But we really came for the Mimosas of course and there are 5 of them, one of which is frozen. You have the Tropical Mimosa, Key Lime Mimosa, Blood Orange Mimosa, Madras Mimosa and the Frozen Mimosa. Not to mention one of the most unique drinks at Food and Wine this year: the Frozen Apple Pie!
- Chocolate Croissant: Flaky Croissant stuffed with Chocolate ($4.25)
- Almond Croissant: Flaky Croissant topped with Toasted Almonds ($4.25)
- Jumbo Blueberry Muffin with Streusel Topping ($3.75)
- Cheese Danish with Sweet Icing ($4.25)
- Frozen Apple Pie (Non-alcoholic) (KA) ($3.75)
- Tropical Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Pomegranate, Orange and Grapefruit Juices ($6.00)
- Key Lime Mimosa with Key Lime Sparkling Wine and Cranberry Juice ($6.00)
- Blood Orange Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Blood Orange Juice ($6.00)
- Madras Mimosa with Cranberry Sparkling Wine and Orange Juice ($6.00)
- Fromosa: Frozen Mimosa featuring White Claw Lime Hard Seltzer ($6.00)
- Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee ($4.25)
Chocolate Croissant ($4.25):
These were pretty good. Nice and flakey and lots of chocolate. Standard Chocolate Croissant you can find all over Walt Disney World:
Almond Croissant ($4.25):
I liked the Almond Croissant the best of the pastries, because it reminds me of Paris and the wonderful almond-filled croissants there. Pretty flaky for a Florida pastry and a good amount of filling. Excellent accompaniment to the mimosas imo.
Jumbo Blueberry Muffin ($3.75):
We didn’t try this but from asking around it’s a standard Disney World Blueberry Muffin, but it’s pretty big and a decent value.
Cheese Danish with Sweet Icing ($4.25):
Again, you’ve already had this before in Walt Disney World for sure but it’s good nonetheless. Decent amount of cheese filling and love the sweet icing on top:
Frozen Apple Pie ($3.75):
We’ll get to the mimosas in a second, but I wanted to start off with one of the most unique drinks (is it really a drink?) at the Food and Wine Festival…the Frozen Apple Pie! Even though it’s the only non-alcoholic option here, we really loved it! It’s super thick with what seems like a slice of apple pie blended down inside the cup. There are chunks of apple and pie all the way down to the bottom! We really love the crumbles on top too! Our favorite option here, which is saying something cause the mimosa were great too!
Onto the mimosas…
Tropical Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Pomegranate, Orange and Grapefruit Juices ($6.00):
This one was a good option. Really refreshing and not too sweet. Lots of orange and grapefruit taste, not so much pomegranate, but we loved it anyways!
Key Lime Mimosa with Key Lime Sparkling Wine and Cranberry Juice ($6.00):
This one got mixed reviews. When we tried it it wasn’t cold which is not how it should be served. The second time though it was cold and you could really taste the Key Lime in there. It made it a little tart, but if you are a Key Lime fan then you’ll love this!
Blood Orange Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Blood Orange Juice ($6.00):
We wanted to like this one more, but for us it was just…ok. I love blood orange, but I just thought it could have been a tad sweeter overall and just lacking a bit of flavor. Go ahead and give it a try though for yourself:
Madras Mimosa with Cranberry Sparkling Wine and Orange Juice ($6.00):
In the confusion of getting all the drinks, this one got drank before we could get a photo. Anyways we really liked it. This one just sweet enough, and had a little bitterness from the cranberry. A really yummy combo!
Fromosa: Frozen Mimosa featuring White Claw Lime Hard Seltzer ($6.00):
Even though the regular mimosas were all pretty good, we liked the Frozen Mimosa the best! I’m sure it had nothing to do with the 90+ degree weather or anything, but we just found it super refreshing and packed with flavor. Even though it’s red, it was another strong lime flavor which came from the lime hard seltzer. And interestingly even though it was frozen, you could taste the bubbles coming up anyways! Great choice and must-try!
Booth Summary and Grade:
The Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar was a smash hit for us and a great new addition to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. The pastries were decent, but the mimosas really stood out. They all pretty much had strong flavors of what they were said to have, and all really refreshing. It was a tough choice for us between the Frozen Apple Pie and Frozen Mimosa for us as to the best option, and are both definitely worth trying. But at $6 these are some of the best/affordable drinks at the Food and Wine Festival.
Since it’s open before most of the Food and Wine Festival Marketplaces, head over to the Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar first thing in the morning and start off your day right!
If you have to get just one thing: Frozen Apple Pie
